India has moved down 10 places to the 68th rank while Singapore has replaced the US as the world’s most competitive economy according to the Global Competitiveness Index compiled by Geneva-based World Economic Forum (WEF).
India ranks high in terms of macroeconomic stability.
A three-day India International Cooperative Trade Fair will be held in New Delhi from 11th of October. The first-ever such fair is aimed at promoting cooperative to cooperative trade within India and abroad leading to enhanced rural and farm prosperity.

Indian Forest Service officer Ramesh Pandey has been selected for the Asia Environmental Enforcement Award by the United Nations Environment Programme. His work in combating trans-boundary environmental crime has been recognised by the selection panel.
Pandey will receive the award at the UN Conference in Bangkok.
India received its first French-made Rafale fighter jet. The aircraft was received by defence minister Rajnath Singh on the 87th Indian Air Force (IAF) founding day. India is the fourth country after France, Egypt and Qatar, to fly the Rafale.
India signed $7.87million deal with France to buy the 36 planes.

Jal Shakti Minister Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat launches Ganga Aamantran – a unique initiative to connect with Ganga’s Stakeholders. It is a pioneering and historic exploratory open water rafting and kayaking expedition on the Ganga River.
It will draw attention to the challenges faced by river Ganga.
Revenue Secretary Shri Ajay Bhushan Pandey inaugurated National e-Assessment Scheme of Income Tax department. With NeAC, there would be no physical interface between the taxpayers and the tax officers. NeAC improves quality of assessment and monitoring.
NeAC will look after the work of e-Assessment scheme.
