Justice Bobde takes oath as next CJI

Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde has sworn in as the 47th Chief Justice India. He administered oath by President Ram Nath Kovind. Justice Bobde who hails from Maharashtra will have a tenure of over 17 months as the CJI and is due to retire on April 23, 2021.

India & US $7.5 billion defence deals for armed drones, spy planes in pipeline

Indian armed forces are procuring US defence equipment worth over $7 billion including Sea Guardian armed drones & naval spy planes. Another deal is the project for the acquisition of the 10 P-8I anti-submarine warfare & long-range surveillance aircraft.

Gotabaya Rajapakasa sworn-in as new President of Sri Lanka

Gotabaya Rajapakasa has been sworn-in as new President of Sri Lanka. Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa was present on the occasion. Gotabaya claimed the presidency with a comfortable 52.25% majority over his closest rival Sajith Premadasa.

6th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus to be held in Thailand

The 6th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus will be held in Bangkok on Nov 19. Rajnath Singh along with 17 other Defence Ministers of ADMM-Plus countries will attend the meeting. Singh held bilateral meetings with US Secretary of Defence Mark T Esper.

Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan takes oath as Chief Justice of Jharkhand HC

Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan took oath as the thirteenth Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court succeeding Anirudh Bose. He was administered the oath of office by Governor Draupadi Murmi in a ceremony at Raj Bhawan. CM Raghuwar Daswas was present at the function.

Yogi Adityanath inaugurates North India's 1st sugar mill which will produce ethanol

UP CM Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the Pipraich Sugar Mill in Gorakhpur-a unit of UP Sugar & Sugarcane Development Corporation Limited. It is the North India's 1st sugar mill which will produce ethanol. Mill will create more employment among the youth.

Indian women clinch five gold medals in Asian Youth Boxing Championship

Indian women have clinched five gold, while men bagged two silver at Asian Youth Boxing Championship in Mongolia. All five women finalists, Naorem Chanu (51kg), Vinka (64kg) Sanamacha Chanu (75kg), Poonam (54kg) & Sushma (81kg) won Gold for the country.

Stefanos Tsitsipas beats Dominic Thiem to win ATP Finals title

Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas has won the ATP Finals on 17 Nov beating Austria's Dominic Thiem 6-7, 6-2, 7-6. This was the debut of Tsisipas in ATP Finals. The match, which was held at the O2 Arena in London, lasted for 2 hours and 36 minutes.

Joohyung Kim won the Panasonic Open India Trophy

Shiv Kapur faltered at the doorstep of victory as he hooked his drive on the closing Par-5 18th hole to hand Joohyung Kim from Korea, the Panasonic Open India Trophy. It was also only the 2nd time that a player other than an Indian had won the event.
