Harsh Vardhan Shringla appointed as next foreign secretary

Harsh Vardhan Shringla, India's Ambassador to the US, has been appointed as the new Foreign Secretary. Shringla is a 1984-batch officer of the Indian Foreign Service. He will take over the charge of the foreign secretary from incumbent Vijay Gokhale.

Hiranandani Group Managing Director Niranjan Hiranandani has taken over as the new president of industry body ASSOCHAM. Hiranandani succeeds Welspun Group Chairman Balkrishan Goenka. ASSOCHAM was founded in the year 1921 and is headquartered in New Delhi.

Wipro partners with NASSCOM to skill students

Wipro has partnered with industry body NASSCOM to start a training platform on emerging technologies such as AI, data science, internet of things. Through this platform, Wipro will train 10,000 students from more than 20 engineering colleges in India.

RBI caps lending on peer-to-peer lending platforms at ₹50 lakh

To protect consumers interest RBI said that on a P2P platform the permissible exposure of a lender to all borrowers should not exceed ₹50 lakh at any given point of time. Lender investing more than ₹10 lakh across P2P platforms will produce a certificate.

Coal India inks pact with OCPL

Coal India has joined hands with Odisha Coal and Power Ltd for buying 6,000 tonnes per day from the Manoharpur captive mine of OCPL, owned by the Odisha govt. Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) and OCPL have entered into an MoU for provisioning of excess coal.

Ram Dass, psychedelic drug pioneer, dies at home aged 88

Ram Dass, who in the 1960s joined Timothy Leary in promoting psychedelic drugs as the path to inner enlightenment before undergoing a spiritual rebirth he spelled out in the influential book “Be Here Now,” died. He was 88 years old.
