India was elected as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for a two-year term after winning 184 votes in the 193-member General Assembly. Along with India, Ireland, Mexico, and Norway also won the UN Security Council elections.

Wheat procurement from farmers touches an all-time record of 382 lakh tonnes

Government said that the procurement of wheat from farmers has touched a record to 382 Lakh tonnes. The earlier record was 381.48 lakh tonnes, achieved during 2012-13. Number of purchases centres was increased from over 14,000 to around 22,000 this year.
