Banking Regulation (Amendment) Bill passed in Lok Sabha to bring cooperative banks under RBI

With this new Bill, the central government aims to bring cooperative banks under the supervision of RBI. It will bring 1,482 urban and 58 multi-state cooperative banks under the supervision of the central bank. The amendments do not apply to PACS.

State Bank Of India Extends OTP-Based ATM Withdrawal Facility

To safeguard customers from frauds and to minimize unauthorised transactions OTP-based withdrawals of ₹ 10,000 and above will be available 24x7 at SBI’s ATMs with effect from September 18. SBI which introduced this for 12 hours on Jan 1 is extended now.

Parliament passes ‘Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda Bill, 2020’

The Bill provides for the establishment of a state-of-the-art Ayurvedic institution called the Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda (ITRA) at Jamnagar, Gujarat and conferment of the status of Institution of National Importance (INI) to it.

Sadashiv Patil, the former India allrounder, dies aged 86

Sadashiv Raoji Patil, the allrounder of the 1950s and 1960s who represented India in one Test match in 1955, died. In a 36-match first-class career he captained in the Ranji Trophy - between 1952 and 1964, Patil scored 866 runs and took 83 wickets.
