The Indian Army has set up a Covid Management Cell to bring greater efficiency in coordinating real-time responses to address the exponential rise in Covid cases across the country. It helps in assistance to civil administration in the form of testing, admissions in military hospitals, and transportation of critical medical equipment.

India's top oil PSUs - IOC, ONGC, GAIL, BPCL, and HPCL committed Rs.100 crore for the redevelopment of Badrinath Dham, one of the holiest shrines of Hindus, Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Badrinarayan Temple is situated in the town of Badrinath in Uttarakhand.

The temple and town form one of the four Char Dham and Chota Char Dham pilgrimage sites.

DRDO’s anti-Covid drug 2-DG receives DCGI approval for emergency use

An anti-COVID-19 therapeutic drug developed by DRDO called drug2-deoxy-D-glucose (2-DG) has been given emergency approval by the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) for Coronavirus patients in the country.

The drug, which was developed by the DRDO in association with pharma major Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, has been found to be effective in controlling the viral growth.

Nepal’s Kami Rita scales Everest for record 25th time

Nepalese climber scaled Mount Everest for the 25th time, breaking his own record for the most ascents of the world’s highest peak.

Rita, 51, first scaled Everest in 1994 and has been making the trip nearly every year since then. He is one of many Sherpa guides whose expertise and skills are vital to the safety and success of the hundreds of climbers.

SBI, EIB to invest up to Euro 100 million in Indian SMEs focused on climate change, sustainability

The European Investment Bank and the country's largest lender SBI entered into a pact to jointly pump Euro 100 million in equity financing into Indian small businesses focused on climate change and sustainability.

SBI already invests in a vehicle called Neev Funds for its impact investing objectives.EIB and SBI have created 'Neev Fund II' for taking ahead this partnership.

Supreme Court constitutes National Task Force to streamline medical oxygen allocation

A Supreme Court bench has constituted a National Task Force (NTF) to assess the distribution of medical oxygen for the entire country. This bench was headed by Justice DY Chandrachud.

The demand for liquid medical oxygen in the country is around 8,500 metric tonnes per day.

The major reason for the scarcity is the shortage of cryogenic tankers.

BCCI scorer Krishan Kumar Tiwari passed away due to Covid at the AIIMS in Jhajjar (Haryana). He was 52. He was a part of the DDCA’s four-member Umpire and Scoring Committee. A well-known name in Capital’s cricket circles for over three decades, Tiwari covered four Tests, five One-Day Internationals, over 60 Ranji Trophy matches, and over 50 Indian Premier League fixtures.

CovAid portal set up for real-time monitoring of relief

The NITI Aayog has set up a dedicated portal – CovAid – for tracking all aid coming via missions or by individual organisations.

All Covid-19 related foreign aid received by the government can be tracked online end-to-end till distribution by the donors.

CovAid will also help individuals and organisations to do end-to-end tracking till the ultimate beneficiary.

New Delhi ranks 32nd and Mumbai 36th in Global Prime Residential Index by Knight Frank

London-based property consultant Knight Frank has ranked New Delhi and Mumbai in 32nd and 36th positions respectively in the Global Prime Residential Index. While Bengaluru moved down by four places in Q1 2021 and is ranked 40; Delhi and Mumbai dipped one place each in the same period.

Globally, Shenzhen ranked 1st with a18.9% annual change for the period Q1 2020 – Q1 2021.

V Kalyanam, Mahatma Gandhi's Former Personal Secretary, Passes Away At 99 In Chennai

Mahatma Gandhi's former personal secretary V Kalyanam died in Chennai due to old age-related ailments.

He was Gandhi's personal secretary from 1943 to 1948, when the Mahatma was assassinated. Kalyanam had earlier shocked the country by claiming that Mahatma Gandhi did not utter the words 'Hey Ram' when he was assassinated 73 years ago.
