The Reserve Bank of India issues revised guidelines for hiring of locker facility provided by banks

Taking into consideration the various developments in the area of banking & technology, nature of consumer grievances & feedback received from banks, RBI has issued revised guidelines for locker/safe custody facility. It is now mandatory for banks to maintain a branch-wise list of vacant lockers as well as a wait-list for the allotment of lockers.

The new guidelines will be effective from 1st January 2022.

BRICS signs deal on cooperation in remote sensing satellite data sharing

Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa (BRICS) signed an agreement for cooperation in remote sensing satellite data sharing. The pact enables building a virtual constellation of specified remote sensing satellites of BRICS space agencies and their respective ground stations will receive the data.

Delhi-Chandigarh Highway first EV-friendly highway in India

With a network of solar-based electric vehicle charging stations, the Delhi-Chandigarh Highway has become the country’s first EV-friendly highway. The network of stations was set up by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) under the FAME-1 (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid) & Electric Vehicles) scheme of the Ministry of Heavy Industries.

Renowned athletics coach Om Nambiar passes away

PT Usha’s coach, OM Nambiar, passed away at the age of 89. Nambiar worked with the Indian Air Force from 1955 to 1970 during which time he represented Services.

Pune and Jodhpur-based facilities of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) have jointly developed an advanced chaff technology to safeguard fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) from enemy radar threats.

Chaff is a critical defence technology used to protect fighter aircraft from hostile radar threats.

Assam rifles organises cycle rally to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Fit India Movement

Chandel Battalion of Assam Rifles organised a cycle rally to promote Fit India Movement and to celebrate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav in collaboration with Imphal and Chandel Cycling Clubs.

The cycle rally was flagged off from Chandel and covered the distance of 130 Km along the Chandel- Kakching–Thoubal–Kangla Fort route, culminating at Modi village in Chandel district.
