Scientists Develop Concrete From Astronaut Blood and Martian Dust to Build Homes on Mars

A two-year mission by a crew of six astronauts on the Martian surface can produce 500kg of AstroCrete. Scientists showed the protein – human serum albumin – could act as a binder for the soil available on the Moon or Mars. They have named the resulting material, AstroCrete. It has an impressive strength as high as 25MPa, about the same as ordinary concrete.

Bangladesh govt to export 2080 MT Hilsa fish to India

Bangladesh Govt. has been giving special permission for export of Hilsa to India for the last few years as a token of friendship, though export of Hilsa was banned in the country in 2012. The demand for the fish during Durga Puja is extremely high in West Bengal as the quality of ‘Padmar Ilish’ or Hilsa fish from Padma River in Bangladesh is considered of superior quality.

eSanjeevani, Govt. of India’s telemedicine initiative, completes 1.2 Crore consultations

eSanjeevani AB-HWC has completed around 67,00,000 consultations. It is being implemented at Health & Wellness Centres under Ayushman Bharat Scheme. It was rolled out in November 2019. Andhra Pradesh was the first State to roll out eSanjeevani AB-HWC services. Since its roll out, over 2000 hubs and around 28,000 spokes have been set up in various States.

Kovalam beach in Tamil Nadu & Eden in Puducherry get ‘Blue Flag’ certificate

International eco-label "Blue Flag”, has accorded the Blue Flag Certification for 2 new beaches this year –Kovalam in Tamil Nadu and Eden in Puducherry beaches. India now has 10 Blue Flag beaches. Foundation for Environment Education in Denmark (FEE) which accords the globally recognized eco-label - Blue Flag certification.

Dwarf containers train flagged off, to reduce logistics cost

Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways flagged-off dwarf container train from Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT). With this, 1st consignment of laden dwarf containers from port was moved by train to ICD Kanpur. Introduction of dwarf containers train will help in reducing logistics cost. Dwarf containers can carry weight of 71 tons against 40 tons by ISO container.

Exports of software services up 2.1% to $148.3 billion in 2020-21: RBI survey

RBI released data related to the 2020-21 round of its annual survey on exports of computer software and information technology enabled services. Computer services and ITES accounted for 65.3 percent and 34.7 percent, respectively, of the total software services exports. BPO services were the dominant component of exports of IT enabled services (ITES).
