2021 Nobel Prize for Chemistry goes to Benjamin List and David W.C. MacMillan

Benjamin List of Germany and Scotland-born David W.C. MacMillan developed "asymmetric organocatalysis" — work that has already had a significant impact on pharmaceutical research, said Goran Hansson, secretary-general of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

The prize money comes from a bequest left by the prize’s creator, Swedish inventor Alfred Nobel, who died in 1895.

Indian Scientists Make Biodegradable Polymer From Extracts Of Guar Beans, Crab Shells

A team of Indian scientists has developed an environment-friendly, non-toxic and biodegradable polymer using guar gum and chitosan, both of which are polysaccharides extracted from guar beans and shells of crab and shrimps.

This work has been published recently in the journal ‘Carbohydrate Polymer Technologies and Applications’.

Fino Payments Bank IPO is likely to see fresh issue of equity shares worth ₹300 cr and an Offer for Sale of 15,602,999 equity shares by promoter Fino Paytech Limited (FPL).

IPO refers to the process of offering shares of a private corporation to the public in a new stock issuance.

The Indian Navy Sailing Championship 2021 was conducted at INWTC in Mumbai

Mumbai-headquartered Western Naval Command, the sword arm of the Indian Navy, has won the overall sailing championship hosted by the 3-dimensional blue-water force.The Western Naval Command won the overall championship and Kochi-based Southern Naval Command was the runners-up. A total of 63 personnel from the 3 naval commands (Western, Eastern, Southern) participated.

Mid-day meal scheme is now ‘PM Poshan’, pre-primary children will be covered

The mid-day meal scheme will now be known as PM POSHAN/PM Poshan Shakti Nirman, with the Centre initiating a major political push pivoted around ‘child nutrition’, and announcing that around 24 lakh students receiving pre-primary education at government and government-aided schools will also be brought under the ambit of the scheme from next year.

Expert group responsible for determining minimum wages reconstituted

The labour ministry has reconstituted the expert group responsible for determining the national floor level minimum wages under the Code on Wages (Code focuses on simplifying the existing labour laws dealing with payment of wages, overtime, bonus, etc.), replacing the head of the expert panel and adding few members, barely three months after the committee was set up.
