FIFTH EDITION OF JAPAN-INDIA BILATERAL MARITIME EXERCISE ‘JIMEX’

The 5th edition of the bilateral maritime exercise JIMEX, between Japan and India, was conducted in the Arabian Sea. The exercise saw the ships and aircraft of Japan Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF) and Indian Navy (IN) engaging in a high tempo of operations focused on air, surface, and sub-surface dimensions of maritime operations as well as the air domain.

Samarth training at 75 training centers in different crafts inaugurated across the country;

To coincide with the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, on 2nd October 2021, the office of DC (H) inaugurated Samarth training at 75 training centers in different craft throughout the country. The Samarth training is providing skill training to the 2,250 artisans as well as extending wage compensation of Rs. 300 per day per trainee at these centers.

Shipping Minister Shri Sarbanand Sonowal launches ‘MyPortApp’ for digital monitoring of port operations.

Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways Shri Sarbanand Sonowal launched a port mobile application called MyPortApp in Kolkata. The app has various information like Vessel Berthing, Rake & Indent, Rake Receipt, Container Status, Tariff, Bills, Port Holidays, etc., and can be accessed anywhere 24x7 and reach out directly to the port.

The App includes all port details digitally and monitors operations virtually.

Minister of State for Railways and Textiles dedicated a new version of the ‘Mile Sur Mera Tumhara’ song to the Nation through video conferencing. This song is part of the initiatives being undertaken by the Ministry of Railways to celebrate the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence- Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

NMCG & WASH Institute Signs MoU for Capacity Building in Faecal Sludge & Septage Management.

National Mission of Clean Ganga (NMCG) has signed an MoU with Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Institute (WASH Institute) to conduct a series of training to enhance the quality of service of officials in Urban Local Bodies (ULBs). This MoU is also to efficiently address FSSM issues in towns and cities of the Ganga Basin.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) - empowered Air India Specific Alternative Mechanism (AISAM) approved the highest price bid of M/s Talace Pvt Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of M/s Tata Sons Pvt. Ltd for sale of 100% equity shareholding of Government of India in Air India along with equity shareholding of Air India in AIXL and AISATS.

World Post Day : Every year, October 9

October 9 is marked as the World Post Day to commemorate the anniversary of the establishment of the Universal Postal Union way back in 1874. The remembrance of the World Post Day came into effect in 1969 at the Universal Postal Union Congress held in Tokyo in 1969.

In 2021, the theme for the event has been decided to be ‘Innovate to Recover’.
