Madhya Pradesh govt announces implementation of Mukhyamantri Ration Aapke Dwar Yojana in state from next month

Madhya Pradesh government has announced the implementation of Mukhyamantri Ration Aapke Dwar Yojana in the state from next month. Under the scheme, ration will now be transported by vehicles in those villages where there are no fair price shops in tribal development blocks of the state.Under the scheme, tribal families of 7,511 villages will be benefited from 16 districts.

Maiden India-UK tri-service exercise Konkan Shakti commences

The maiden India-UK tri-services joint exercise, Konkan Shakti 2021, has commenced.

The exercise is aimed at bolstering the continuing co-operation between the two countries.

Held in two phases, the seven-day exercise will run from 21-27 October.

The maritime part of the exercise involves the harbour phase, which is being held in Mumbai.

FATF retains Pakistan on 'grey list', Turkey new addition

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) is a global money laundering and terrorist financing and other related threats watchdog to the integrity of the international financial system.The FATF updates its standards to combat modern world issues and holds countries that do not comply accountably.

The 'grey list' means that a country gets limited access to international loans.

Fourth Assembly of ISA promises to achieve $1 trillion global in solar investments by 2030

The fourth general assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), was held virtually. It was presided by Union Minister Shri R.K. Singh, Minister for Power, New and Renewable Energy, Government of India and the President of the ISA Assembly. A total of 108 countries participated in the Assembly.

ISA targets US$1 trillion of investment in solar by 2030.

Martin Scorsese, Istvan Szabo to receive Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement award at IFFI

Hollywood veteran Martin Scorsese and celebrated Hungarian film-maker Istevan Szabo will be honoured with the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement award at the this year's International Film Festival of India (IFFI).

The 52nd edition of of the film festival will be held from November 20 to 28 in Goa.

International Film Festival of India founded on 24 January 1952.

Kerala wins award for city with most sustainable transport system

Kerala has won the award for the 'city with the most sustainable transport system'.

The award, which will be presented on October 29 at Delhi, has been given in recognition of the projects implemented -- like Kochi Metro, Water Metro and e-mobility -- to enhance the transport facilities in the city of Kochi.

The award would be presented by Union minister of MoHUA.

Formula 1: Max Verstappen Holds off Lewis Hamilton to Win US Grand Prix Thriller

US Grand Prix: Max Verstappen beat Lewis Hamilton to the race to extend his Formula 1 world championship lead to 12 points.

The victory by 1.33 seconds was Verstappen’s eighth of the season at a track where Hamilton had won five times.

Sergio Perez completed the podium for Red Bull ahead of Charles Leclerc in a Ferrari and McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo.

3% dearness allowance hike for central govt staff

A Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved an additional instalment of three percent dearness allowance for the central government employees and dearness relief to the pensioners with effect from July 1, 2021.

This three percent increase will be on the existing rate of 28 percent of the basic pay or pension; (i.e. 31% of the basic pay).

SAI appoints Arjuna Awardee Commodore PK Garg as new CEO of TOPS

The Sports Authority of India (SAI) appointed Commodore PK Garg as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) at the Mission Olympic Cell meeting.

Commodore Garg, who was the High-Performance Director with Sports Authority of India.

He is also an Arjuna Awardee recipient (1990) in Sailing.

Disarmament Week 2021-The protection of the people from the harm of the weapons

Disarmament Week is observed annually to promote the awareness and understanding the issues of disarmament in several countries. The week aims to reduce the use of weapons, specifically nuclear weapons, to bring peace in the society. This year, the disarmament week will be starting on October 24.
