India hosted a first-of-its-kind Global Summit on "Reimagining Museums in India" in Hyderabad on 15-16 February 2022.

The online summit encompassed four broad themes: Architecture and Functional Needs; Management; Collections (including curation and conservation practices); and Education and Audience Engagement.

The central government nominated department of financial services (DFS) secretary Sanjay Malhotra as a director on the Central Board of Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

The RBI's affairs are governed by the central board of directors. The board is appointed by the government. There are five official directors -- the RBI Governor and not more than four deputy governors.

Nepal to become first country to deploy India's UPI platform

Nepal will be the first country to adopt India's UPI system, which will play a pivotal role in transforming the digital economy of the neighbouring country, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).

Govt notifies green hydrogen & ammonia policy; targets 5 million tonnes output by 2030

The Ministry of Power has notified the green hydrogen and ammonia policy under which the government is offering to set up manufacturing zones for production, connectivity to the ISTS (inter-state transmission system) on priority basis, and free transmission for 25 years if the production facility is commissioned before June 2025.

Jal Jeevan Mission achieves 9 cr rural tap connections in 2.5 years since launch

Under the ambitious Jal Jeevan Mission of the Jal Shakti Ministry, the government has claimed to have provided tap water supply to more than 5.77 crore rural households, taking the total number to 9 crore since the programme was launched in August 2019.

'Har Ghar Jal' is a term used for saturation coverage of tap water in a given rural habitation.

Centre to prepare 3D maps of 100 cities using geospatial technology and drones

The government is in the process of using geospatial technology and drones to map over six lakh villages as well as prepare pan-India 3D maps of 100 Indian cities.

Survey of India had called for empanelment of companies for the mapping exercise of the villages. It has also launched Svamitva Scheme for this purpose.

Veteran Bengali singer Sandhya Mukherjee died following a massive cardiac attack at a private hospital in Kolkata.

Zombie firms absorbed 10% of total bank credit extended to all companies: RBI Bulletin

The number of perpetually loss-making zombie firms, who use more credit/external finance to service debt regularly thus enabling them to remain in business, absorbed about 10 per cent of the total bank credit extended to all firms in the Indian economy.

Such firms are estimated to account for about 10 per cent of the total debt of the non-financial corporate sector.

RBI cancels licence of Mantha Urban Cooperative Bank

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has cancelled the licence of Mantha Urban Cooperative Bank, Maharashtra citing its weak financials. Consequently, the bank ceases to carry on banking business, with effect from the close of business on February 16, 2022.

The RBI cancelled the licence of the bank as it does not have adequate capital and earning prospects.
