Chetan Ghate succeeds Ajit Mishra as director of Institute of Economic Growth

The Institute of Economic Growth has appointed Chetan Ghate as the new director succeeding Ajit Mishra.

Ghate, who was a member of the Reserve Bank of India’s first monetary policy committee between 2016-2020, is the winner of the 2014 Mahalanobis Memorial gold medal for the best research economist in the country under the age of 45.

Ministry of Defence teams up with Bengaluru-based aerospace startup NewSpace India Limited to develop pseudo satellite

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has signed a deal with Bengaluru-based aerospace startup NewSpace India Limited to create a High Altitude Pseudo-Satellite (HAPS).

HAPS is an autonomous aircraft that can operate at altitudes of more than 65,000 feet and stay in the air for months at a stretch, allowing it to undergo surveillance operations.

Governor of Madhya Pradesh Mangubhai Patel inaugurated the festival at Khajuraho.

'Khajuraho Dance Festival' is being organized in Khajuraho, located in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh.

Union Steel Minister RCP Singh lays foundation stone for coke oven plant in Mangaluru

Union Minister for Steel Ram Chandra Prasad Singh laid the foundation stone for the Coke Oven Plant (1,80,000 tonnes per annum) at the blast furnace unit in KIOCL Limited in Panambur.

The project, planned at a total cost of Rs 836.90 cr, also includes the setting up of 2.0 L tonnes per anum ductile Iron spun plant.

Coke oven project would be completed within 20 months.

Indian Railways Gives Glimpse Of India’s First Cable Stayed Rail Bridge In J&K

The first cable-stayed railway bridge in India is in the making in the gorgeous Reasi district of Jammu & Kashmir. Built on the Anji river, the bridge known as the Anji Khad bridge will link Katra and Reasi.

The bridge is a part of the 111-kilometre long Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link project. It will run for a length of 473.25 metres with the support of 96 cables.

India’s first water taxi service inaugurated in Mumbai

The long-awaited water taxi services connecting the twin cities, Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, first of its kind in India, was flagged off by Union Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in the presence of Chief Minister Udhav Thackeray.

The services will commence the Domestic Cruise Terminal (DCT) and will connect the nearby locations at Nerul, Belapur, Elephanta island & JNPT.

Maiden shipment of steel from Haldia to Pandu through Bangladesh flagged off

Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterway and AYUSH Sarbananda Sonowal flagged off the maiden voyage of barges with a consignment of 1798 metric ton of finished steel products from Haldia in West Bengal to Pandu in Assam through the Indo-Bangladesh Protocol route (IBP route).

The Indo-Bangladesh protocol route will use NW-1 as well as NW-2 on the Indian side.
