Former Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation R K Singh has been appointed as Principal Advisor to IndiGo's Managing Director Rahul Bhatia. Currently he serves on the Board of CAE Simulation Training Private Limited, which is a pilot training organization.

President of India Inaugurates Madhavpur Ghed Fair

The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated five-day long Madhavpur Ghed Fair at Madhavpur Ghed, Porbandar in Gujarat.

Since 2018, the Government of Gujarat in association with the Ministry of Culture is organizing this fair every year to celebrate the sacred union of Lord Krishna and Rukmini.

The fair was suspended for 2 years due to Covid-induced restrictions.

Ravichandran Ashwin Becomes First Player to Get Retired Out in IPL History

The IPL 2022 match between Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium saw R. Ashwin become the 1st batter in IPL history to be Retired Out.

Ashwin was batting on 28 when he walked off, allowing Riyan Parag to join Shimron Hetmyer in the middle.

Retired out is a tactical move. Once retired out, a batter cannot come back, unlike retired hurt.

Union Cabinet approves distribution of fortified rice across schemes

In order to address the issue of malnutrition among the poor, the Centre has announced that it will supply fortified rice through government schemes such as PDS and PM-POSHAN in three phases by 2024, a move that will cost the central exchequer Rs 2,700 crore per year.

This decision was taken at the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs meeting, chaired by PM Narendra Modi.

Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports releases contribution of USD 72,124 to UNESCO Fund for Elimination of Doping in Sport

As per the resolution of 7COP held in Paris, 29-31 September 2019, the State Parties had agreed to 1% of the contribution of the regular budget of the respective nation to UNESCO towards the Fund for the Elimination of Doping in Sport.

First time in 2021, the Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports made a contribution of USD 28172 towards the UNESCO Fund.

NRSC inks technical collaboration pact with UIDAI to develop Bhuvan-Aadhar portal

Aadhaar-issuing body UIDAI and National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), ISRO have signed a pact for technical collaboration. NRSC would be developing 'Bhuvan-Aadhar' portal providing information and locations of the Aadhaar centres across India.

The portal also provides a facility to search the relevant Aadhaar centres by location, based on residents' requirements.

Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank launches new deposit scheme

Chairman of Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank P. Gopi Krishna launched a new deposit scheme of the bank, Vikas Siri Sampat-1111.

The scheme is of a tenor of 1,111 days with interest rate of 5.70% for general public and 6.20% for senior citizens.

It also offers the highest rate of annualised return of 6.03% for general public and 6.60% for senior citizens.
