ADB to provide USD 2 mn loan to support urban development in Nagaland

The Asian Development Bank will provide a USD 2 million loan for designing climate resilient urban infrastructure, strengthening institutional capacity and improving municipal resource mobilisation in Nagaland. Government of India and ADB on signed the USD 2 million Project Readiness Financing (PRF) loan, the Manila- headquartered lender said in a release.

Indian Army gets combat ready vehicles from Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL)

Indian Army received the first lot of Infantry Protected Vehicles (IPMVS) from a private sector company which has produced and delivered the four-wheeled armoured combat vehicles.

These have been developed and manufactured at a facility in Pune and built on the strategic 8×8 Wheeled Armoured Platform (WhAP).

Cabinet approves signing of MoU between SEBI and FRC, Mongolia

The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved a proposal for signing a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and the Financial Regulatory Commission, Mongolia (FRC).

Established in 2006, the Financial Regulatory Commission (FRC), Mongolia, is a parliamentary authority.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia flagged off Dornier, the First Made-in-India Commercial Flight.

Alliance Air’s made-in-India Dornier 228 aircraft was deployed for its first commercial flight on Dibrugarh(Assam)-Pasighat(Arunachal Pradesh) route.

The Centre-run Alliance Air had in February signed an agreement with the government-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited to lease two 17-seater Dornier 228 aircraft. The airline received its first Dornier 228 on April 7.

IAF's Chinook Completes Longest Non-Stop Helicopter Sortie In India, Covers 1,910 Km In 7 Hours And 30 Minutes

IAF’s Chinook helicopter undertook the longest non-stop helicopter sortie in India, flying from Chandigarh to Jorhat (Assam). The 1910 kms route was completed in 7 hrs 30 min.

India had finalized a contract in September 2015 to procure 22 Apache helicopters and 15 Chinooks choppers from the US at a cost of around USD 3 billion.

After Hyderabad, Mumbai Recognised As A 'Tree City Of The World'

Mumbai has been recognised as the "2021 Tree City of the World" by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations jointly with Arbor Day Foundation, Department of Public Relations.

Mumbai city is now part of an important global network leading the way in urban and community forestry.

Domestic patent filings surpass international ones after 11 years

The number of domestic patent filing has surpassed the number of international patent filing during January-March 2022 for the first time in 11 years, the commerce and industry ministry said in a statement.

This means that of the total 19,796 patent applications filed, 10,706 (54 per cent) were filed by Indian applicants as compared to 9,090 by non-Indian applicants.

Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani became the 6th richest person in the world with a total wealth of $118 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaire's Index.

Adani entered the $100 billion wealth club on April 4 and is now the only Indian in Bloomberg's top 10 global billionaires list.

He has surpassed Google’s famed founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin.

Centre’s ‘Svanidhi se Samriddhi’ programme expanded to cover 126 more cities

The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) launched the “Svanidhi se Samriddhi” programme in 126 additional cities across 14 states and Union territories.

“Svanidhi se Samriddhi”, an additional programme of PM Svanidhi, was launched on January 4,2021 in 125 cities under the first phase covering around 35 lakh street vendors and their families.

Retail inflation rises to 6.95% in March, highest in 17 months

India's retail inflation surged to a 17-month high of 6.95 per cent in March from 6.07 per cent in the previous month due to a sharp increase in food prices as per the National Statistical Office (NSO) data.

Retail inflation as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) has remained above the upper limit of the RBI tolerance band for the third consecutive month.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and partners of the Adaptation Innovation Marketplace (AIM) have announced $2.2 million in climate action grants for 22 local innovators across 19 countries, including India.

The initiative empowers local actors and contributes to the principles for locally led adaptation action, which have been endorsed by UNDP and partners.
