Danish Open swimming: Sajan Prakash wins gold, Vedaant Madhavan bags silver

Top Indian swimmer Sajan Prakash won the men's 200m butterfly gold and Vedaant Madhavan bagged silver medal in the men's 1500m freestyle event at the Danish Open swimming meet in Copenhagen, Denmark. 16-yr-old, Vedaant Madhavan, who is the son of actor R Madhavan clocked 15.57.86 to finish second in the 10-swimmer final. He had won a bronze medal at the Latvia Open in 2021

Alliance Air starts direct flight service between Mumbai and Keshod in Gujarat under UDAN Regional Connectivity Scheme

Union Minister for Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia recently flagged off the first flight from Keshod Gujarat to Mumbai and vice-versa under UDAN Regional Connectivity Scheme. Alliance Air has commenced the first flight from Keshod to Mumbai and vice-versa. Mr. Scindia has also inaugurated upgraded facilities at Keshod Airport.

Kotak pauses crypto trade with CoinSwitch Kuber

The private sector bank KOTAK has discontinued - at least temporarily - handling payments for trades with CoinSwitch Kuber, a large crypto intermediary.

Kotak's stand could deal a blow to the unregulated industry. It follows digital wallet MobiKwik reportedly snapping its links with crypto-related payments since the beginning of April.

Parliament passes bill to include Darlong as sub-tribe of Kuki in ST list of Tripura

Parliament passed a bill for the inclusion of the Darlong community as a sub-tribe of Kuki in the list of Scheduled Tribes of Tripura.

Rajya Sabha passed the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill-2022 with a voice vote. Kuki is one of the main tribal communities in Northeast India and the Darlong community in Tripura will become its 18th sub-tribe.

HDFC Bank to raise Rs 50,000 cr via bonds; re-appoints Renu Karnad as director

HDFC Bank said it will raise up to Rs 50,000 crore in the next one year by issuing bonds aimed at financing infrastructure and affordable housing loan requirements of the customers.

It also informed that the board has approved to re-appoint Renu Karnad as non-executive director on the board of the bank for a period of five years with effect from September 3, 2022.

Poverty in India declined 12.3 percentage points between 2011-2019: World Bank

Extreme poverty in India is 12.3 percentage points lower in 2019 than in 2011 as poverty headcount rate has declined from 22.5% in 2011 to 10.2% in 2019 with comparatively sharper decline in rural areas, a working paper of the World Bank policy research said.

Rural and urban poverty dropped by 14.7 and 7.9 percentage points during 2011-2019.
