The International Albinism Awareness Day (IAAD), annually observed on June 13, represents the importance and celebration of human rights of people with albinism.Albinism is a non-contagious, genetically inherited ailment that results in the lack of melanin in the skin, eyes, and hair.

This year theme is “United in making our voice heard.”

Geneva to host the twelfth WTO Ministerial conference this year

The 12th WTO Ministerial Conference is all set to begin in Geneva, Switzerland after a gap of almost 5 years. The key areas of discussions & negotiations this year’s conference include WTO’s response to the pandemic, Fisheries subsidies negotiations, Public Stockholding for Food security, WTO Reforms and Moratorium on Custom Duties on Electronic transmission.

‘Abnormal’ dinosaur egg in India digs up new questions for evolution

A staff of researchers from the University of Delhi has found a novel set of fossilised dinosaur eggs, with one egg nesting inside the different on the Dinosaur Fossil National Park, in Dhar District of Madhya Pradesh. While eggs-within-eggs are uncommon phenomena, they’re to date identified to happen solely in birds and have by no means identified in reptiles.

India's first centralised AC railway terminal in Bengaluru becomes operational.

The ultra luxury Sir M Visvesvaraya Railway Terminal in Karnataka's capital city Bengaluru was made operational.

The Ernakulam Tri-Weekly Express chugged trough the station to mark this special occasion. According to the railway officials, the air-conditioned SMV Railway Terminal is a ₹314 crore project. It has solar rooftop panels and rainwater harvesting mechanism.

Maruti Suzuki Installs Asia's Largest 20 MWp Solar Plant At Manesar, Haryana

Maruti Suzuki has set up a 20 MWp1 solar power plant at its Manesar facility in a bid to maximises the utilisation of renewable energy in its operations. The power plant will contribute 28,000 MWH2 annually to the group's manufacturing unit and which is equivalent to the energy required for the production of more than 67,000 units.

J-K LG rolls out accidental insurance cover of Rs 15 lakh for govt employees

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha rolled out on an accidental insurance cover of Rs 15 lakh for government employees in the union territory.

Jammu and Kashmir Bank will extend the insurance cover.

Sinha also launched the bank’s ‘Phone Pe Loan’ facility for government employees.

The bank has contracted with Oriental Insurance Company for extending the cover,

CCEA approves increase of at least 1.5 times in MSP for Kharif crops for Marketing Season 2022-23

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved increase in Minimum Support Price for all intended Kharif crops for Marketing Season 2022-23.

The approved rates are at least one and half times of the all India weighted average cost of production.

It will lead to greater investment and production. It will also provide assured remunerative prices for the farmers.

India's star teenager GM R Praggnanandhaa wins Norway Chess Open

India's Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa won the Norway Chess Group A open chess tournament after netting 7.5 points from nine rounds. The rising Indian star finished a point ahead Marsel Efroimski and Jung Min Seo, who tied for 2nd place. The 16-year old GM, the top-seed, remained unbeaten through the nine rounds. He finished the tournament with a win over compatriot V Praneet.

Maharashtra gets 12 new conservation reserves and three wildlife sanctuaries

The 18th State Wildlife Board meeting has chaired by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray approved 12 new conservation reserves that will cover an area of 692.74 sq km and two new sanctuaries (including a flamingo sanctuary) covering an area of 298.61 sq km. In addition, the board also cleared the extension of Lonar wildlife sanctuary area and 10 endangered wildlife habitats.
