Centre amends FCRA allowing Indians to receive up to Rs.10 lakh without informing Authorities

Union Home Ministry has amended the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) giving certain relaxations such as allowing relatives to send more money to India freely.

The amended rule now allows relatives to send 10 lakh rupees without informing the government. If the amount exceeds, the individuals will now have 3 months to inform the government against 30-days earlier.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has dedicated to the nation a number of new manufacturing facilities set up at the Bhanur Unit of Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) in Telangana.

They include a Warhead facility at the Bhanur Unit, a Radio Frequency (RF) Seeker facility at Kanchanbagh Unit.

As part of their deployment to South East Asia, Indian Naval Ships Sahyadri and Kadmatt under the Command of Rear Admiral Sanjay Bhalla, NM, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet, visited Singapore from 01 - 03 July 2022.

INS Sahyadri is an indigenously built multi-role stealth Frigate and INS Kadmatt is an indigenously built ASW Corvette.

External debt up 8.2% on year to $620.7 billion in FY22

India’s external debt rose by 8.2% to $620.7 billion at the end of March, 2022 from a year ago, the Reserve Bank of India. However, the external debt to GDP ratio declined to 19.9% at end of March 2022 from 21.2% at end of March 2021.

US dollar denominated debt remained the largest component of India’s external debt, with a share of 53.2% at end-March 2022.

India's foreign exchange reserves rise $2.7 billion in the June 24th week to $593 billion

India accumulated $2.7 billion of foreign exchange reserves in the week to June 24, ending the steady depletion of reserves for the previous three weeks.

The reserves stood at $593.323 billion as on June 24. Out of this, foreign currency assets stood at $529.216 billion while reserves held in gold were valued at $40.926 billion, Reserve Bank of India data showed.

Ferdinand Marcos Jr sworn in as Philippines president, replacing Duterte

Ferdinand Marcos Jr has been sworn in as the Philippine president in a ceremony in Manila, succeeding the outgoing leader Rodrigo Duterte.

His inauguration marks a comeback for the Marcos political dynasty, which was ousted after a popular revolt in 1986.

Mr Marcos Jr - nicknamed Bongbong - won an election landslide last month.

Former India international EN Sudhir, who played as a goalkeeper for India in the 1970s, died in Mapusa, Goa.

Sudhir, who made his international debut against Indonesia in Rangoon (currently Yangon) in the Olympic qualifiers in 1972, represented India in 9 matches.

He was also part of the national team in the 1973 Merdeka Cup and the Asian Games squad in 1974.

Athlete Parul Chaudhary has set a new national record in the women’s 3000 metres event at the Sunset Tour in Los Angeles, surpassing the six-year-old record of Suriya Loganathan.

Swedish pole vaulter Armand Duplantis improved his own outdoor world record by clearing 6.16 meters (20 feet, 2 1/2 inches) at the Stockholm Diamond League meet. Duplantis cleared the bar with plenty to spare on his second attempt to better his previous mark of 6.15, set in Rome in 2020 — when he broke Sergey Bubka's 26-year-old outdoor record.

Punjab Budget 2022-23: at Rs 1,55,860 crore, a 14.2% jump in budget expenditure

Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said budgetary provisions have been made for giving 300 units of free electricity to the households from July 1.

For the fiscal year 2022-23, the budget outlay of Rs 13,991 crore - nine per cent of the state’s expenditure budget of Rs 1,55,860 crore - has been proposed for schools.

Govt approves investment proposals worth Rs 86,824 cr for electronics mfg

The Electronics and IT ministry has approved a total of 314 applications with proposed investments of Rs 86,824 crore under a modified special incentive package scheme till May 31, 2022.

M-SIPS (Modified Special Incentive Package Scheme) was announced by the government in July 2012. It has been amended twice - in August, 2015 and in January, 2017.

Bank deposit growth moderated to 10% in March 2022: RBI data

The growth in Scheduled Commercial Banks (SCBs) deposits moderated to 10 per cent year-on-year in March 2022, compared to an increase of 11.9 per cent a year ago, RBI data showed.

During 2021-2022, current, savings and term deposits rose by 10.9 per cent, 13.3 per cent and 7.9 per cent, respectively.

Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme completes 2 years.

The centrally sponsored PMFME Scheme was launched on 29th June, 2020 by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries under the Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan.

Scheme is currently being implemented in 35 States and UTs, envisioning enhancement of the existing individual micro-enterprises in the unorganized segment of the food processing industry and formalisation of the sector.
