Bindyarani Devi wins silver, India’s fourth weightlifting medal at Commonwealth Games 2022

Weightlifter Bindyarani Devi won the silver medal in women’s 55 kg event at the Commonwealth Games 2022

The Indian lifter managed a total weight of 202 kg. Her best attempt in the snatch was 86kg while she managed a weight of 116 kg in clean & jerk.

Uttar Pradesh had the highest share in Centre’s FY22 excise revenue

The state of Uttar Pradesh received the biggest share of central government’s revenue collections from excise duty on petroleum products in FY22, followed by Bihar, West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh, as per official data. Uttar Pradesh received about ₹6,693 crore last fiscal from the Centre’s excise duty collection which was shared with states as per a formula.

Karnataka minister adopts 31 cows under ‘Punyakoti Dattu Yojana’

Karnataka animal husbandry minister Prabhu B Chavan adopted 31 cows in the government and private goshalas, one in each district under “Punyakoti Dattu Yojana” (cow adoption) portal.

The portal was launched by chief minister Basavaraj Bommai on 31st July, Chavan mentioned providing nutrition and care for the cows as the motive for the adoption.

The 75 indigenous games are from different parts of the country Launched under NEP

Raja mantri chor sipahi”, “posham pa”, “gilli danda”, “yubi lakpi”, different forms of “kabbadi” and “kanche” are among 75 “Bharatiya games” the Centre has announced it will introduce in schools under the education ministry’s Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) initiative. The initiative was launched by Union home minister Amit Shah on 2nd anniversary of implementation of NEP.
