NPCI directs apps not to charge bill payment fees

The National Payments Corporation of India has asked payment apps to stop charging a platform fee for payments enabled on the Bharat Bill Payment Platform. This is in light of the RBI coming out with a discussion paper on payment charges in the country.

RBI makes public inspection report of City Union Bank under Right to Information (RTI) Act

During its inspection, the RBI team observed that City Union Bank has a separate loan product for pawnbrokers.

The Supreme Court on April 26, 2019 had made clear that the RBI was “duty bound to furnish all information relating to inspection reports and other material” under the RTI Act except those which pertained to “matters of national economic interest”.

NMDFC signs pact with ICICI Bank for development of banking software, app

The National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation (NMDFC) signed an agreement with ICICI Bank for the development of financial accounting software and mobile application.

ICICI Bank will design, develop and deploy the application for NMDFC, and provide source code and executable database information among others.

FIFA Lifts Ban On AIFF, Decks Cleared For India To Host Women's U-17 World Cup In October

World football governing body FIFA lifted the ban imposed on the AIFF after the Supreme Court terminated the mandate of the Committee of Administrators (CoA), clearing the decks for India to host the Women's U-17 World Cup in October.

The suspension, the first time in AIFF's 85-year history, lasted just 11 days.

Essar Group to sell infra assets worth over Rs 19,000 crores to ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel

ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), a joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel, announced that it had reached a definitive agreement to acquire ports, power plants, and other logistics and infrastructure assets from the Essar group for a net value of about $2.4 billion (Rs 19,000 crore).

Govt Notifies New Battery Waste Management Rules To Promote Circular Economy

The Government has notified new rules for environmentally sound management of waste batteries.

The rules cover all types of batteries such as electric vehicle batteries, portable batteries, automotive and industrial batteries.

The New rules, published by the Environment Ministry on 24 August), will replace Batteries (Management and Handling) Rules, 2001.
