Pradeep Singh Kharola appointed CMD, India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO)

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Kharola as Chairman & Managing Director, ITPO in the rank and pay of Secretary to the Government of India on a contract basis for a period of two years.

Kharola will continue to hold the charge of the post of Chairman, National Recruitment Agency till appointment of a regular incumbent in his place.

Aramane Giridhar named defence secretary, Sanjay Malhotra new revenue secretary

Road Transport and Highways Secretary Aramane Giridhar will be new defence secretary, after the retirement of Ajay Kumar on October 31.

National Highways Authority of India chairperson Alka Upadhyaya will be the new road and transport secretary replacing Giridhar.

Sanjay Malhotra will be the new revenue secretary after Tarun Bajaj completes his term on November 30.

V-Mart acquires e-commerce startup LimeRoad for Rs 31 crore

Fashion retailer V-Mart Retail (V-Mart) has acquired e-commerce platform LimeRoad for a lump sum cash of around Rs 31.12 crore.

The Gurgaon-based startup LimeRoad was founded in 2012 by Suchi Mukherjee, Ankush Mehra and Prashant Malik.

Total balance in PM Jan Dhan accounts crosses ₹1.75-lakh crore mark

As per the latest Government data, the total balance stood at ₹1,75,225 crore as on October 5, 2022, as the total number of beneficiaries touched 47 crore. Women beneficiaries own a larger chunk in the scheme at 26.16 crore account of which the bulk (31.42 cror accounts) are in rural and semi-urban areas.

ISSF World Championship: Ramita Jindal crowned world champion in 10 meter Air Rifle Women Junior event in Cairo

India's Ramita Jindal was crowned world champion in the 10-meter Air Rifle Women Junior event at the International Shooting Sport Federation, ISSF World Championship Rifle/Pistol in Cairo, Egypt. Tilottama Sen won a second medal for India at the event, a bronze, after she shot 261.0 in the ranking round to finish third.

Wildlife board approves Durgavati Tiger Reserve as new tiger reserve in Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh Wildlife Board approved a new reserve for tigers of Panna Tiger Reserve, one-fourth of which will get submerged due to the linking of the Ken-Betwa rivers.The 2,339 square kilometres new tiger reserve, to be called Durgavati Tiger Reserve, will spread across Narisinghpur, Damoh and Sagar districts.In 2020, UNESCO included PTR in a global network of biospheres

CCI imposes monetary and non-monetary sanctions on MakeMyTrip, GoIbibo and OYO for indulging in anti-competitive conduct

The Competition Commission of India imposed monetary penalties of ₹223.48 crore on MakeMyTrip-Goibibo(MMT- Go) and ₹168.88 crore on OYO for indulging in anti-competitive conduct in the hotel segment of their business and thereby contravened the Competition law. CCI had also directed MMT-Go to amend its market behaviour, for indulging in anti-competitive conduct.

UIDAI tops Grievance Redressal Index for second consecutive month

The Unique Identification Authority of India has topped among all Group A Ministries, Departments and Autonomous Bodies for resolving public grievances in the rankings report published by Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances for September, said the Ministry of Electronics & IT. This is the second consecutive month UIDAI has topped the rankings.
