Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) has announced the appointment of Vishal Kapoor as its chief executive officer (CEO). Before joining EESL, he was working with the Ministry of Power as a joint , during which he led various government interventions, schemes, and reforms in the distribution sector.

GSK India names Bhushan Akshikar as Managing Director

GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Limited has appointed Bhushan Akshikar as the new managing director (MD) in India. Currently, Akshikar is the commercial head of the general medicines business of GSK in India. His role will come into effect on December 1, 2022. The newly appointed MD joined GSK India in September 2011.

Akshikar will succeed Sridhar Venkatesh.

GER improved in 2021-22 at primary, upper primary, and higher secondary levels of school education compared to 2020-21

Ministry of Education released a detailed report on Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE+) 2021-22 on school education of India.

In 2021-22 total students enrolled in school education from primary to higher secondary stood at 25.57 crore as compare to 25.38 crore enrolment in 2020-21, registering an increase of 19.36 lakh enrolments.

Finance Minister launches biggest ever Coal Mine Auction of 141 Mines

Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman has Launched the 6th round of coal mine auction of the Ministry of Coal.

She pointed out that coal imports for power sector has come down by 41%.

Finance Ministry has extended Rs. 6000 crore incentive for coal gasification and Rs. 250 crore for exploration process.

Adani New Industries installs India's largest wind turbine, taller than Statue of Unity

A wind turbine taller than the world's tallest Statue of Unity with blades spanning wider than the wingspan of a jumbo jet has been installed at Mundra in Gujarat by Adani New Industries Ltd as part of its renewable energy expansion plans.

The turbine has been installed by Mundra Windtech Ltd (MWL), a wholly-owned subsidiary incorporated by Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL).

India's October iron ore exports 'nearly zero': FIMI

India's iron ore exports dropped to "nearly zero" in October, and overseas shipments of the steelmaking raw material are expected to continue to languish due to higher export taxes and lower demand from China.

India in May raised export tax on low-grade iron ore lumps and fines - with iron content below 58% - to 50% from zero, and hiked the duties on pellets to 45% from 0.

Unemployment rate surges to 7.77% in Oct against 6.43% in Sept: CMIE

Unemployment rate in India surged last month on the back of significant increase in rural unemployment rate, reversing the decline registered in September.

The data from the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy shows the unemployment rate in India stood at 7.77% in October compared to a four-year low of 6.43% in September.

AirAsia exits AirAsia India, sells 16.33% stake to Air India for Rs 156 cr

Malaysia-based AirAsia Group has exited AirAsia India by selling its remaining 16.67 per cent stake to Tata Group-owned Air India for Rs 155.64 crore.

AirAsia Group said AirAsia India can use the "AirAsia" brand name for 12 months.

AirAsia India has been making losses since its first commercial flight on June 12, 2014.

Asian Continental Chess C’ship: India’s R Praggnanandhaa and PV Nandidhaa win titles

India’s Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa and Women’s Grandmaster PV Nandidhaa claimed the men’s and women’s titles respectively at the Asian Continental Chess Championship in New Delhi.

The triumph also earned Praggnanandhaa a ticket to the next FIDE World Cup.

Ela Bhatt, SEWA founder & women’s activist, passed away

Born in Ahmedabad on September 7, 1933, Bhatt, a lawyer, first joined the legal department of Textile Labour Association (TLA), and later founded SEWA in 1972, born out of the women’s wing of TLA.

First time: CRPF appoints 2 women cadre officers as IG of RAF, Bihar sector

In a first, the CRPF has appointed two women officers from its cadre as Inspectors General (IG) of its specialised anti-riots unit RAF and the Bihar Sector.

Annie Abraham has been appointed as the IG of the blue duangree donning Rapid Action Force (RAF) while Seema Dhundia has been posted as the IG of the Bihar Sector.
