Meta appoints Sandhya Devanathan as India head

Facebook parent Meta has appointed Sandhya Devanathan as the Vice President of Meta India.

Devanathan, who is leading the company's gaming vertical for the Asia Pacific (APAC) market, will transition to her new role on January 1, 2023 and will report to Dan Neary, Vice President, Meta APAC.

President Droupadi Murmu appointed Dr CV Ananda Bose as the Governor of West Bengal.

Manipur Governor La Ganesan had been holding the additional charge of West Bengal since July after the former Governor, Jagdeep Dhankhar, became India's Vice President.

Dr. Bose is the first ever Fellow of the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie.

Gianni Infantino set to get third term as FIFA president

FIFA president Gianni Infantino is getting four more years in charge of football’s governing body after no candidate stepped up to challenge him.

Infantino won a five-candidate race in 2016 to replace Sepp Blatter, and was re-elected unopposed in 2019. He’s now set to stay in the job beyond the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

IPC suspends Russian, Belarusian committees with immediate effect

The International Paralympic Committee voted to suspend the National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) of Russia and Belarus with immediate effect, placing their para-athletes' hopes of competing at the 2024 Paralympics in jeopardy.

Both NPCs were suspended for their "inability to comply with their membership obligations under the IPC Constitution".

Retired BPCL chairman Arun Kumar Singh to be next head of ONGC

Oil refining and marketing company BPCL's former chairman Arun Kumar Singh is likely to be the new chairman of India's top oil and gas producer ONGC -- the first instance of a top PSU board-level position going to a person aged over 60.

ONGC was founded on 14 August 1956 by the Government of India.

Enforcement Directorate chief SK Mishra gets one-year extension for third straight time

The Union Government gave a fresh one-year extension in service to the director of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) Sanjay Kumar Mishra.

Meanwhile, last year, the government also introduced an ordinance that allows the mandatory two-year terms of the directors of the ED and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to be extended by up to three years.

ISRO to launch the first-ever private Rocket from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh

India's first-ever private launch of Vikram Suborbital rocket will take place at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota. The Mission Prarambh will carry three customer payloads Space Kidz India, Bazoomq Armenia and N-Space Tech India. A non-government entity, the start-up Skyroot Aerospace Private limited had developed the single-stage Vikram Suborbital rocket.
