Parliament passes Maritime Anti Piracy Bill 2022 with Rajya Sabha's approval

Parliament has passed the Maritime Anti Piracy Bill 2022 with Rajya Sabha approving. It was already passed by Lok Sabha. The Bill enables Indian authorities to take action against piracy on the high seas. It applies to the sea beyond the Exclusive Economic Zone, which is beyond 200 nautical miles from India’s coastline.

MoHUA kickstarts ground survey of Pey Jal Survekshan from 15th December 2022

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has kickstarted the ground survey of Pey Jal Survekshan. The Survey is to assess the service level compliance of the city with respect to quality, quantity, and coverage of water supply, sewerage and septage management, the extent of reuse and recycling of used water, and conservation of water bodies in 500 AMRUT cities.

National Mathematics Day | 22 December

National Mathematics Day is celebrated on December 22 every year. The National Mathematics Day is marked to recognise and celebrate the works of Srinivasa Ramanujan. Srinivasa Ramanujan, the Indian mathematical genius, was born on this day in 1887. The former PM Manmohan Singh, in 2012, declared December 22 as the National Mathematics Day to mark the birth anniversary.

India GDP grew by 9.7% in H1FY23, says Finance Ministry

India’s gross domestic product growth in the first half of the current fiscal year averaged at 9.7 per cent, the finance ministry said in its mid-year expenditure and revenue statement. Ministry said it could not present the medium-term expenditure framework as said in Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management Act, because projections were disrupted by global situation.

Delhi leads with highest crypto adoption in India: CoinSwitch

CoinSwitch, a cryptocurrency trading platform in an annual investor report informed that New Delhi has the highest cryptocurrency adoption in India followed by Jaipur, measured in terms of value invested. An insight from the report was that investing patterns followed by men and women were largely similar in India at 8%, women represent a small group of crypto investors.

Viacom18 gets Olympic Games Paris 2024 broadcast rights for India, subcontinent

Viacom18 Media has secured exclusive media rights to broadcast the next Olympic Games, which will be held in Paris in 2024, in India and the subcontinent region. It has also received non-exclusive rights to the Winter Youth Olympic Games Gangwon 2024, said a joint statement issued by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Viacom18 Media.

Adani Solar introduces India’s first large sized monocrystalline silicon ingot

Adani Solar, the photovoltaic manufacturing and research arm of the Adani Group, has introduced India’s first large sized monocrystalline silicon ingot. Inaugurated at Mundra facility, the monocrystalline ingots will drive indigenization to produce renewable electricity from Silicon based PV modules with efficiencies ranging from 21% to 24%.

Centre appoints former SC Judge Hemant Gupta as head of New Delhi International Arbitration Centre

The Centre has appointed Justice Hemant Gupta, who retired recently as a judge of the Supreme Court, as the Chairperson of the New Delhi International Arbitration Centre.Along with Justice Gupta, Ganesh Chandru and Anant Vijay Palli have been appointed as part-time members of the NDIAC. The aim of the NDIAC is to conduct arbitration, mediation, and conciliation proceedings.

IGX launches gas index, plans trading in pipeline capacity

The Indian Gas Exchange (IGX), promoted by the Indian Energy Exchange (IEX), has launched an index that will reflect gas prices and will soon come up with a product for trading in gas pipeline capacity.The index, which IGX has named ‘GIXI’, will reflect the volume-weighted average price for all gas traded and would represent the gas prices at the Western and Southern hubs.

YouTube's creator ecosystem contributed over Rs 10,000 crore to India’s GDP in 2021: Report

YouTube's creative ecosystem contributed over Rs 10,000 crore & supported more than 7,50,000 full-time equivalent jobs in the Indian economy in 2021, citing a report by the consulting firm Oxford Economics unveiled. In 2020,the YouTube creator ecosystem contributed Rs 6,800 crore to India's GDP equivalent to 6,83,900 full-time jobs.

Gail inks pact with Japan's Mitsui OSK for LNG carrier

State-owned Gail India and Japanese transport firm Mitsui OSK Lines, through its wholly owned subsidiary, has signed a time charter contract for a new-build liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier, and for joint ownership of an existing LNG carrier.The vessel will be built by South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering with a charter period from 2023.

Country's first infantary Museum opens for public in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh
