In Tennis, the top-seeded Indian team of Yuki Bhambri and Saketh Myneni came from behind to win the Bangkok Open title, as they beat Christopher Rungkat and Akira Santillan at Nonthaburi, Thailand. This win is likely to give the 28-year-old Yuki his career-high doubles rank of 90 while the big-serving Myneni, 35, should also touch a career-best 74 in the ATP doubles.

Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the top destination for mobile gamers, followed by Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Bihar and West Bengal, according to India Mobile Gaming Report 2022 by gaming platform Mobile Premier League released. Odisha, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Himachal Pradesh have seen the highest increase in mobile gamers in 2022 compared to 2021.

The Minister of State for Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Rajeev Chandrasekhar announced that India’s first Centre of Excellence (CoE) of online gaming will be set up in Shillong, Meghalaya by March 2023. The CoE will be set up under Digital India Startup Hub through the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI).

ReNew setting up solar cell units at Rs 2,000 cr investment in Rajasthan, Gujarat

ReNew Power is investing Rs 2,000 crore to set up solar cell and module manufacturing units in Gujarat and Rajasthan. A solar cell and module manufacturing unit with an annual capacity of 2 gigawatt (GW) is being set up in Gujarat. Another unit for manufacturing of only solar modules is being set up in Rajasthan with a 4 GW annual capacity.

India-China trade deficit crosses over USD100 billion for the first time

The trade between India and China touched record high of USD 135.98 billion in 2022.

The trade deficit for India stood at USD 101.02 billion.

Data showed that India’s total exports to China in 2022 was USD 17.48 billion, a year-on-year decline of 37.9%.

Meanwhile, there has India’s import from China in 2022 climbed to $118.5 billion, a year-on-year increase of 21%.

Cricketer Smriti Mandhana signed by Herbalife Nutrition India as sponsored sports athlete

The 21st Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) kicked off on Jan 14 in the Bangladesh's capital Dhaka. Centre puts Neelakurinji on the list of protected plants

Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF) has listed Neelakurinji ( Strobilanthes kunthiana) under Schedule III of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, including it on the list of protected plants.

Those who uproot or destroy the plant will invite a fine of ₹25,000 and 3 years’ imprisonment. Cultivation of Neelakurinji and its possession is not allowed.

The latest edition of the Rural Health Statistics 2021-22 shows that India is facing a shortfall of 83.2% of surgeons, 74.2% of obstetricians & gynaecologists, 79.1% of physicians and 81.6% of paediatricians.

There has been an over 50% rise in the number of allopathy doctors in primary health centers since the launch of the National Rural Health Mission in 2005.

Captain Surbhi Jakhmola, 1st woman officer posted on foreign assignment at BRO

Captain Surbhi Jakhmola of the Indian Army's 117 Engineer Regiment will be the first woman officer to be posted on a foreign assignment at the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).

The officer will be sent to Bhutan as part of Project Dantak.

The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is an executive road construction force in India that supports the Indian armed forces.

Miss Universe 2022: R’Bonney Gabriel of United States crowned 71st Miss Universe

R’Bonney Gabriel from the USA is Miss Universe 2022. At the grand finale of the 71st Miss Universe contest, which took place on Jan 15, Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu crowned the diva. In the 71st edition of the competition, Venezuela’s Amanda Dudamel took second place, followed by Dominican Republic’s Andreina Martinez as the second runner-up.
