NABH and HSSC Sign MoU for the Recognition and Skilling Initiatives of Healthcare Professionals Across the Country

Dr Atul Kochhar, CEO of National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH) and Ashish Jain, CEO of Healthcare Sector Skill Council (HSSC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding today aimed at recognition of HSSC certification for NABH accreditation; develop training programs for Skilling, Reskilling and Upskilling required for healthcare professionals.

ECI hosts 2nd International Conference on 'Use of Technology and Elections Integrity' in New Delhi

Election Commission of India (ECI) is hosting the 2nd International Conference on the theme ‘Use of Technology and Elections Integrity’ at New Delhi on 23-24 January, 2023. ECI is leading the Cohort on Elections Integrity which was established as a follow up to the ‘Summit for Democracy’.

‘Summit for Democracy’, was an initiative of US President and hosted in December 2021.

Parakram Diwas 2023: PM Modi names 21 unnamed islands in Andaman and Nicobar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi named the 21 largest unnamed islands of Andaman and Nicobar Islands after 21 Param Vir Chakra awardees on the Parakram Diwas i.e. 23 January.

The Government had declared January 23 as Parakram Diwas in 2021 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

Govt switches bonds with RBI in a cash-neutral deal

The Indian government bought back bonds maturing in 2024 from the Reserve Bank of India, while also issuing bonds maturing in 2032 worth a similar quantum. The government bought back 6.18% bonds maturing in 2024 worth 226.10 billion rupees ($2.78 billion) at a price of 98.62 rupees while it issued 8.28% 2032 bonds worth 210.26 billion rupees to the RBI at 106.05 rupees.

Brazil declares medical emergency in Yanomami territory following reports of children deaths from malnutrition

In Brazil, the government has declared a medical emergency in the Yanomami territory following reports of children dying of malnutrition and other diseases caused by illegal gold mining. A decree published by the government said, the aim of the declaration was to restore health services to the Yanomami people that had been dismantled by the previous government.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to be Chief Guest at India's Republic Day celebrations on 26th January

President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, will pay a state visit to India from the 24th to the 26th of this month. He will be the Chief Guest at India’s 74th Republic Day. He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including five Ministers and senior officials. This is for the first time that the President of Egypt has been invited as Chief Guest to Republic Day.

ECLGS saved 14% MSME loans from becoming NPAs: SBI report

In a recent research by SBI, it has been reported that the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme has helped banks in averting 14 per cent of MSME loans from turning into NPAs. It said, the state of Gujarat was the biggest beneficiary of the scheme followed by Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh. These five states together accounted for 75% of the outstanding NPA.

Paytm, Citi end tie-up for co-branded credit card

Citibank and payments platform, Paytm, have ended their partnership for a co-branded credit card Paytm CITI Card, ahead of the merger of Citibank’s commercial banking business with Axis Bank. Both Citibank and Paytm have written to cardholders informing them that the co-branded credit card will be shut down, and offering them other cards they could opt for.

Canara Bank To Sell Its Stake In Russian Joint Venture To SBI For Rs 114 Crore

Canara Bank said it plans to sell its stake in Russian joint venture Commercial Indo Bank LLC (CIBL) to the other venture partner State Bank of India for about Rs 114 crore. CIBL, incorporated in 2003, is a joint venture in Russia between SBI (60 per cent) and Canara Bank (40 per cent). Canara Bank is expected to receive USD 14.67 million or about Rs 114 crore from SBI.

A first: Atal Pension Yojana logs 10 million enrolments in a calendar year

The Atal Pension Yojana (APY) — targeted towards unorganised sector workers — saw the highest-ever takers in 2022 with enrolments rising 36 per cent. The figure crossed 10 million for the first time in a calendar year, data released by the finance ministry showed. The number of enrolments in 2022 rose to 12.5 million from 9.2 million in 2021.

Padma Shri awardee Prabhaben Shah passes away

Social worker and Padma Shri awardee Prabhaben Shah of Union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman, and Diu passed away at the government hospital at Daman. She was 92. For her selfless services, Prabhaben was awarded India’s fourth highest civilian Award, Padma Shri in January 2022 in the social work category.
