The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Lalit Kumar Gupta as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Cotton Corporation of India (CCI), a PSU under the Ministry of Textile.
CCI was established on 31st July 1970 under the administrative control of the Ministry of Textiles, as a Public Sector Undertaking under the Companies Act 1956.

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has imposed a fine of 100 crore rupees on the Kochi Municipal Corporation for continuing to neglect its responsibilities which resulted in a fire at a Brahmapuram waste plant site in Kochi, Kerala. The tribunal also directed the civic body to address the health issues faced by the people after the waste plant fire.

GAIL Limited has signed a MoU with Shell Energy India Private Limited to explore prospects of importing and handling of ethane and other hydrocarbons. Bhutan successfully met the least development countries (LDCs) graduation criteria in two United Nations triennial reviews of 2015 and 2018 and is set to graduate from the group of LDCs in 2023. Afghanistan remains the country most impacted by terrorism for the fourth consecutive year, despite attacks and deaths falling by 75 per cent and 58 per cent, respectively, the tenth Global Terrorism Index (GTI) showed.
