Lalit Kumar Gupta appointed as CMD of Cotton Corporation of India (CCI)

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Lalit Kumar Gupta as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Cotton Corporation of India (CCI), a PSU under the Ministry of Textile.

CCI was established on 31st July 1970 under the administrative control of the Ministry of Textiles, as a Public Sector Undertaking under the Companies Act 1956.

RBI allows India and Tanzania to use their national currencies for bilateral trade settlement

RBI authorized India & Tanzania to settle bilateral trade in their respective national currencies.

Tanzanian banks will have to open Special Rupee Vostro Accounts in India by approaching authorised Indian banks, who will in turn approach RBI for their approval with details of the arrangement.

Former Australia captain Tim Paine retires from cricket

Former Australia Test captain Tim Paine has retired from domestic cricket.

Wicketkeeper Paine played 35 Tests for Australia, including 23 as skipper.

The 38-year-old, who also played 35 One-Day Internationals, was given a guard of honour as he left Bellerive Oval and Tasmania captain Jordan Silk confirmed Paine had ended his first-class career.

NGT imposes fine of 100 crore rupees on Kochi MC

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has imposed a fine of 100 crore rupees on the Kochi Municipal Corporation for continuing to neglect its responsibilities which resulted in a fire at a Brahmapuram waste plant site in Kochi, Kerala. The tribunal also directed the civic body to address the health issues faced by the people after the waste plant fire.

GAIL signs agreement with Shell Energy India on ethane sourcing

GAIL Limited has signed a MoU with Shell Energy India Private Limited to explore prospects of importing and handling of ethane and other hydrocarbons. It is primarily used as petrochemical feedstock and is separated from the other components of natural gas in most well-developed gas fields. It will be transported further through GAIL’s 14,830 km of natural gas pipelines.

Global Terrorism Index 2023: Afghanistan Tops The List Of Most Impacted Country By Terrorism
