Rajya Sabha passes Competition Amendment Bill, 2023

The Rajya Sabha has approved the Competition Amendment Bill, 2023, which seeks to reform the two-decade-old anti-trust law to make it in sync with the shifts in the economy.

Having been cleared in both Houses of Parliament, the Bill is set to become law once it gets Presidential assent. Lok Sabha passed the Bill last week.

Adani's Dhamra LNG terminal in Odisha receives 1st cargo

Mumbai Dhamra Port in Odisha, a unit of APSEZ, has marked the start of its LNG import terminal by receiving its first cargo aboard carrier Milaha Ras Laffan .

According to industry officials, Dharma terminal will be able to berth the widest range of LNG vessels all year around and transport LNG/gas via pipelines or trucks

Gross Direct Tax collections for the Financial Year 2022-23 stood at 19.68 lakh crore Rupees registering a growth of over 20 percent.

Provisional figures issued by the Ministry of Finance showed that the net collection for the Financial year 2022-23 are at 16.61 lakh crore rupees, representing an increase of 17.63 percent, as compared to preceding Financial Year 2021-22,

ADB forecasts China, India to power strong growth in 2023

China's recovery from the pandemic and strong demand in India will drive strong economic growth in Asia this year, the Asian Development Bank said in a report.

The Manila, Philippines-based ADB's latest update forecasts an expansion of 4.8% in this year and the next, up from 4.2% in 2022.

It said inflation would likely cool slightly this year and fall further in 2024.

World Bank lowers India FY24 growth forecast to 6.3%

The World Bank said it has lowered its forecast for India's economic growth in the current fiscal year that started on April 1 to 6.3% from 6.6%.

Asia's third-largest economy recorded year-on-year growth of 4.4 per cent in October-December, down from 11.2 per cent a year back and 6.3 per cent in the preceding quarter.

India Justice Report 2022 | Karnataka tops among 18 large States in delivery of justice

Karnataka topped the third India Justice Report among 18 large and mid-size states having a population of over 1 crore each, it was followed by Tamil Nadu & Telangana.

The list of seven small states, having a population of less than one crore each, was headed by Sikkim, followed by Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura.

The IJR is an initiative of the Tata Trusts launched in 2019.
