Aditya S Samant became India’s 83rd chess Grandmaster.
The 17-year-old Maharashtra player Samant , an International Master, became a GM when he started his ninth-round game against compatriot Aryan Chopra at the BielChess MTO 2023 tournament.
He earned his first GM norm at the Abu Dhabi Masters in August last year.

Space startup Pixxel said it has won a multi-crore rupee grant from the government to build miniaturised multi-payload satellites for the Indian Air Force, marking its entry into the defence sector. Under the grant from Innovations for Defence Excellence of the Defence Ministry, Pixxel will develop small satellites of up to 150 kgs for electro-optical, infrared purposes.

Indian Oil Corporation Ltd’s recently signed long-term liquefied natural gas purchase deal with Abu Dhabi’s ADNOC Gas is valued at $7-9 billion, the United Arab Emirate -based gas major. The agreement, which was inked during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to France and the UAE, is for supply of up to 1.2 million tonnes per annum of LNG for 14 years from 2024.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has clarified that a banknote with a Star (*) symbol is identical to any other legal banknote, except that in the number panel a Star (*) symbol is added between the prefix and the serial number. The central bank said the Star (*) symbol present on the number panel of a banknote is an identifier that it is a replaced / reprinted banknote.
India is likely to get the 3rd largest economy tag in 2027 (2027-28) if it maintains the current rate of growth, and in the process, will surpass both Japan and Germany, said SBI Research in its 'Ecowrap' report. Earlier, SBI Research had expected India to become the third-largest economy in the world by 2029.
