International Day of Sign Languages - September 23

The International Day of Sign Languages is observed on 23 September, every year because the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) was established on this date in 1951.

This day was first celebrated in 2018 during International Week of the Deaf.

Biswanath Ghat has been selected as the Best Tourism Village of India 2023 by the Ministry of Tourism, from amongst 791 applications from 31 States and UTs.

The I2U2 grouping has announced a new joint space venture on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The I2U2 grouping consists of four nations: India, Israel, the United Arab Emirates and the United States.

4th Nadi Utsav commences at IGNCA in New Delhi

The 4th Nadi Utsav commenced at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) in New Delhi.

The river-themed event will focus on Yamuna this year.

The three-day event from September 22 to 24th, will feature a wide range of programs including Cultural Performances, book fair, documentary film festival and a puppet show.

RBI proposes changes in instructions dealing wilful defaulters

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) proposed sweeping changes in norms concerning wilful defaulters, defining them as someone who has an outstanding amount of Rs 25 lakh and above and has refused to repay despite having the capacity to pay.

Wilful defaulters shall not be eligible for restructuring of credit facility and cannot be on the board on any other company.

In Wrestling, India's Antim Panghal wins bronze medal at World Championships in Serbia

19-year-old Indian wrestler Antim Panghal secured a bronze medal in the women's 53 kg category at the ongoing World Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.

She also secured Paris Olympics 2024 quota for India.

Antim beat two-time European Champion Emma Jonna Denise Malmgren in the bronze medal bout by 16-6.

This is India's first medal at the ongoing edition of the tournament.

India's first lighthouse festival took place in Goa

India's first lighthouse festival commenced in Goa on September 23, which will see the Union Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways develop 75 lighthouses across the country into tourist hubs.

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the Indian lighthouse festival at the iconic Fort Aguada Lighthouse in Panjim, Goa.
