R21/Matrix-M: WHO recommends Malaria vaccine made by Oxford and Serum Institute of India

The R21/Matrix-M malaria vaccine developed by the University of Oxford and the Serum Institute of India has been recommended for use by the World Health Organisation (WHO) after meeting required safety, quality & effectiveness standards.

R21/Matrix-M, developed by Britain's University of Oxford, will become available by mid-2024, The doses would cost cost between $2 & $4.

World Bank retains India FY24 growth forecast at 6.3%, warns of global challenges

The World Bank has retained its GDP growth forecast for India at 6.3 percent for 2023-24 even amid persistent and intensifying global headwinds.

The World Bank's growth forecast for the current financial year is 20 basis points lower than that of the Indian government and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

One basis point is a hundredth of a percentage point.

The government has decided to ban manufacturing, possession and imports of electric detonator from April 2025 in view of security concerns and public safety. In a notification, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has said that the central government is of the opinion that electric detonator is of a "dangerous" character.
