Telangana Govt launches “Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme” for all school children

The Telangana State government launched the “Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme” for all school children studying in government schools besides, those being run by the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs). The breakfast for all students from Class 1 to 10 will be served 45 minutes before the commencement of classes. The scheme was first introduced in Tamil Nadu.

The government said the ninth phase of the ‘Sagar Parikrama’ programme covering coastal districts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will kickstart on October 7. UNCTAD raises India growth estimate to 6.6% for 2023

The UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has raised its economic growth forecast for India in 2023 to 6.6%, up from the previous prediction of 6%. However, it expects growth to slow to 6.2% in 2024. The UNCTAD also predicts global economic output growth to decelerate to 2.4% in 2023 before a small uptick to 2.5% in 2024.

Madhya Pradesh govt to provide 35% reservation for women in govt jobs

The Madhya Pradesh government has issued a notification stating that 35% of all posts in the state, except for the Forest Department, will be reserved for women in direct recruitment. This amendment to the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services rules is in line with the government's earlier announcement to provide 35% reservation for women in police and other government jobs.

Centre raises LPG subsidy for Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries to ₹300/cylinder

The government has raised the subsidy amount for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries from ₹200 to ₹300 per LPG cylinder. Ujjwala beneficiaries currently pay ₹703 per 14.2-kg cylinder as against the market price of ₹903. After the decision of the Union Cabinet, they will now pay ₹603.

Moratorium under IBC to exempt aircraft and engines, govt. notifies

The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MCA) has said that certain protection offered to a corporate debtor from the recovery of dues under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) 2016 will not cover aircraft, helicopters and engines.
