ArcelorMittal partners with IIT Madras to create Asia’s first Hyperloop facility

ArcelorMittal has announced that it has established a partnership with Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) and is working closely with IIT Madras’ Hyperloop Technology teams – Avishkar Hyperloop, student team and TuTr Hyperloop, a start-up incubated at IIT Madras, which are developing cost-effective Hyperloop technologies for passenger and cargo mobility.

52% drop in toy imports in 8 years, 239% jump in exports: Commerce Ministry

The Indian toy industry witnessed growth in FY2022-23 in comparison to FY2014-15, with a decline in imports by 52 per cent, and a rise in exports by 239 per cent.

These observations were noted in a case study on "Success Story of Made in India Toys", which was conducted by the IIM Lucknow at the behest of Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).

Health Ministry notifies revised Pharma manufacturing rules under schedule M to ensure quality control

The Union Health Ministry notified revised rules under Schedule M of the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945.

Schedule M prescribes the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for pharmaceutical products and the revised Schedule M has been notified as rules to ensure GMP is adhered to, and requirements of premises, plant, and equipment for pharmaceutical products.

Vietnam's VinFast unveils $2 billion investment for integrated electric-vehicle manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu

The company has earmarked an initial investment of $500 million, the EV giant said in a statement, for the first phase of the project, spanning five years in Thoothukudi.

VinFast also stated that it anticipates its Indian EV project to evolve into a "first-class EV production hub" in the region, with an annual capacity of up to 150,000 vehicles.

Aditya L1 reaches destination, successfully enters halo orbit

The Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) on Saturday successfully placed Aditya L1, the country's first space-based solar observatory, into a halo orbit around its intended destination: the Sun-Earth Lagrangian Point L1.

India's GDP likely to grow by 7.3% in FY24: NSO data

India’s economy is projected to grow at 7.3% in the ongoing financial year, as per the initial advance estimate report released by the National Statistical Office (NSO).

At that pace, India will retain its crown as the fastest-growing major economy, following its 7.2% GDP growth in FY2022-23.

In nominal terms, though, the projected growth for FY24 is 8.9%.

UN report revises India's GDP projection downward to 6.2% for 2024

The United Nations World Economic Situation and Prospects Report 2024 revised India’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth estimate for the 2024 calendar year to 6.2 per cent, compared to 6.7 per cent earlier.

Despite revising the growth estimates for 2024 downward by 0.5 percentage points, the report projects a rebound in 2025, with a GDP growth projection of 6.6 per cent.

In a first, India to launch GSAT-20 satellite on SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket

NewSpace India Ltd (NSIL), the ISRO's commercial arm, announced its plan to launch communication satellite GSAT-20 onboard Elon Musk-owned SpaceX’s Falcon-9 rocket.

GSAT-20 (renamed as GSAT-N2) is a high throughput Ka-band satellite. Ka-band satellites deliver high-speed broadband internet connectivity and digital video and audio transmission.
