The twelve component parts of this nomination are, Salher fort, Shivneri fort, Lohgad, Khanderi fort, Raigad, Rajgad, Pratapgad, Suvarnadurg, Panhala Fort, Vijay durg, Sindhudurg in Maharashtra and Gingee Fort in Tamil Nadu.

Chandigarh’s first hockey Olympian, Sukhbir Singh Gill passed away at the age of 48. Sukhbir Singh Gill, who represented the Indian men’s hockey team at the Sydney 2000 Olympics and the 2002 Hockey World Cup in Kuala Lumpur. He also helped the Indian team to a gold medal finish at the 2001 Men's Hockey Champions Challenge in Malaysia.
