The Central Government has facilitated a mutually agreed price of Potassium Derived from Molasses (PDM) at 4,263 per tonne for sale by sugar mills to fertilizer companies for the current year. In addition, PDM Manufacturers can also claim subsidies at 345 rupees per ton at present rates under the Nutrients Based Subsidy Scheme (NBS).
Currently, potash as a fertilizer is totally imported. Production of Potassium Derived from Molasses will reduce import dependency and will make India Atmanirbhar in its production. Presently about 5 Lakh tonnes of Potash Ash generated from ethanol distilleries is being sold domestically whereas the potential to produce this Ash could reach up to 10 to 12 Lakh tonnes.
Global investment advisory firm Jefferies has projected an optimistic outlook for the Indian economy and its equity markets. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 'Sudarshan Setu', the country's longest cable-stayed bridge of 2.32 km, on the Arabian sea connecting Beyt Dwarka island to mainland Okha in Gujarat's Devbhumi Dwarka district. Beyt Dwarka is an island near Okha port, which is nearly 30 km from Dwarka town.
The 2.32 km bridge, including 900 metres of central double span cable-stayed portion and a 2.45 km long approach road, has been constructed at a cost of Rs 979 crore, as per an official release. The bridge, which was known as 'Signature Bridge', has been renamed as 'Sudarshan Setu' or Sudarshan Bridge.

The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited , under the aegis of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, has successfully commissioned India's largest Battery Energy Storage System, which stores energy using solar energy. The 40 megawatts (MW) / 120MWh BESS with a solar photovoltaic (PV) plant located in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh.
The project has been constructed with funding from the World Bank and Clean Technology Fundunder Innovation in Solar Power & Hybrid Technologies Projectas well as leveraged financing from domestic lending agencies.
National Sample Survey Office, under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, released data on household consumption expenditure for the year 2022-23 which shows per capita monthly household expenditure more than doubled in 2022-23 as compared to 2011-12.
The latest consumer expenditure survey indicates that poverty has come down to five per cent in the country and people are becoming prosperous both in rural and urban areas. People were kept in 20 different categories and the data showed that the average per capita monthly expenditure for all categories stood at Rs 3,773 in rural areas and Rs 6,459 in urban areas.
The average per capita monthly expenditure of 0-5 per cent fractile class is pegged at Rs 1,373 in rural areas and Rs 2,001 in urban areas. According to the survey data, the gap was 84 per cent in 2011-12 and has come down to 71 per cent in 2022-23.
The 5th edition of Joint Military Exercise ‘DHARMA GUARDIAN’ between the Indian Army and the Japan Ground Self Defence Force commenced at Mahajan Field Firing Ranges in Rajasthan. The Exercise is scheduled to be conducted from 25th February to 9th March 2024. Exercise 'DHARMA GUARDIAN’ is an annual exercise and conducted alternatively in India and Japan.
Exercise ‘DHARMA GUARDIAN’ will enable the two sides to share their best practices in Tactics, Techniques and Procedures of conducting tactical operations. The Exercise will also facilitate developing inter-operability, bonhomie and camaraderie between troops of both the sides.
UAE was removed from the Paris-based Financial Action Task Force (FATF Grey List), a list also known as jurisdiction under increased monitoring list, which includes countries that are actively working with the FATF to address strategic deficiencies in their regimes to counter money laundering, terrorist financing and proliferation financing.
Kenya and Namibia are now added to the FATF grey list. Countries Removed from FATF's Grey List: UAE, Gibraltar, Barbados and Uganda. FATF is an intergovernmental organisation founded in 1989 on the initiative of the G7 to develop policies to combat money laundering and to maintain certain interest. In 2001, its mandate was expanded to include terrorism financing.
Geeta Batra, a distinguished India-born economist, has been appointed as the Director of the Independent Evaluation Office of the World Bank's Global Environment Facility (GEF). This historic appointment makes her the first woman from a developing country to hold this prestigious position.

Convention No. 190 is the first international labor standard to address violence & harassment in the world of work comprehensively, according to the ILO. Under which, members are mandated to adopt, in consultation with representative employers' and workers' organizations, inclusive, gender-responsive strategies for preventing & eradicating workplace violence and harassment.
