India has signed a trade pact with EFTA countries — Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein — aiming to attract $100 billion and to create one million jobs in 15 years in exchange for tariff concessions for their pharma, chemical and minerals.
Switzerland being the largest player is likely to contribute more than half of the $100 billion free trade pact India recently signed with the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), while Norway will bring in the rest, with Iceland and Liechtenstein contributing as well, Norwegian Ambassador to India.
India has started Operation Indravati to evacuate its nationals from Haiti to the Dominican Republic, and asserted that it was "fully committed" to the security and well-being of Indians abroad.
The move comes days after India had said it was looking at evacuating up to 90 of its nationals from Haiti in view of the deteriorating security situation in the Caribbean nation.
