Punjab National Bank takes over Jalandhar stadium to recover loan

As the Jalandhar Improvement Trust failed to repay the loan taken against Guru Gobind Singh Stadium, PNB sealed the stadium. The price of this land is around Rs 300 cr. The bank had earlier issued a notice to repay the amount of Rs 105 crore

Nandamuri Harikrishna, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader passed away

Nandamuri Harikrishna, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader and son of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N T Rama Rao, passed away in a car accident. Harikrishna, the fourth son of NTR, was also a popular Telugu actor, director and producer.

Indian men’s table tennis team settles for a bronze medal

The Indian men’s table tennis team settled for a historic bronze medal after losing to South Korea in semi-final. The team comprised G. Sathiyan, Achanta Sharath Kamal and A. Amalraj. India had defeated Japan 3-1 in the quarterfinals.

SC finds audit of child shelters ‘frightening'

In a social audit conducted by the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) only 54 of 2,874 children's homes received positive reviews. NCPCR is auditing under Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.

CBSE has decided to provide digital documents to students, whose academic documents have been lost or damaged in the Kerala floods. CBSE with NeGD, developed digital academic repository called ‘Parinam Manjusha’. It is integrated with DigiLocker.

ISRO plans to launch Chandrayaan-2, in Jan 2019.The Mission will have an orbiter weighing 2379 kg, lander named Vikram weighing 1471 kg and a rover weighing 27 kg.It will require a GSLV MkIII rocket for launch. ISRO aims to launch 19 missions upto Mar 2019

India and World Bank sign $300 Mn Agreement for Energy Efficiency

India and World Bank signed a $220 mn Loan Agreement and a $80 mn Guarantee Agreement for the India Energy Efficiency Scale-Up Program. Aim is to avoid lifetime greenhouse gas emissions of 170 mn tons of CO2 and 10 GW of additional generation capacity.

The government of Rajasthan and World Bank signed a $250 mn Development Policy Loan (DPL) to support it in improving the performance of its Electricity Distribution Sector under the State’s 24x7 Power for All program. The First Loan closed in March 2017.
