India conducts first-ever joint patrol in Madagascar EEZ

In a first,the navies of India and Madagascar undertook joint patrolling of Madagascar’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and also conducted a Passage Exercise (PASSEX).

Objective is to ensure maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).

The INS Shardul and Malagasy Naval Ship Trozona undertook the patrol.

Kurnool Airport,6th civilian airport in Andhra,is located at Orvakal and is named after first-ever freedom fighter from the region,Uyyalavada Narasimha Reddy,as a tribute to him.

Built on a 1010 acre site at a cost of Rs.110 crore,airport has a 2000-metre runway with four aprons for parking of aircraft.

Statue of former CM YS Rajasekhar Reddy was unveiled in the airport.

AYUSH Ministry set up interdisciplinary team to explore potential of Yoga

The committee is chaired by H. R Nagendra, Chancellor,Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana and its members include representatives from AIIMS New Delhi, IIM Bangalore, IIT Bombay, various leading Yoga institutions,the corporate sector and the AYUSH Ministry.

The committee will submit its preliminary recommendations by May this year.

In a first,ICICI Bank enables customers to break high-value transactions into EMIs with 'EMI @Internet Banking' facility.

ICICI Bank customers can break their high value transactions of over Rs 50,000 into suitable EMIs directly on its internet banking platform to make their purchases more affordable.It will be applicable on transactions up to Rs 5 lakh and will bear no additional cost on the customers.

The bank has tied up with online payment gateways BillDesk and Razorpay to enable this.

Sebi in consultation with clearing corporations issues new penal structure for delivery default in derivatives segment

In agricultural and non agricultural commodities,the penalty for delivery default by seller will now be 4% and 3% of the settlement price plus replacement cost.

In respect of norms for apportionment of penalty,at least 1.75% of settlement price will be deposited in the Settlement Guarantee Fund of the clearing corporation while up to 0.25% retained for admin expenses.

Lakshadweep,district Budgam in J-K declared TB free;Himachal first in country in TB elimination campaign

J&K’s Budgam is the only district in India that has achieved 80% reduction in cases of Tuberculosis.

In Category 2 –over 60% reduction in cases,Diu district and union territories of Daman and Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli were awarded.

Himachal Pradesh ranked No.1 among all states having a population of more than 50 lakh in National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme.

Niti Aayog sets up task forces for achieving policy certainty in contract enforcement, dispute resolution.

One task force, which will suggest facilitation of speedy resolution of contractual disputes between private entities and the government, will be headed by Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant.

The second task force, which will recommend a policy framework for the enforcement of contracts, will be led by Niti Aayog Vice Chairman Rajiv Kumar.

Originally scheduled to be held from February 6 to March 7, 2021, the World Cup was postponed by a year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Project billed as world's first ship tunnel slated for construction in Norway

The tunnel will run underneath the mountains in Norway's Stadhavet peninsula. It will measure 1,700 metres long, 37 metres high and 26.5 metres wide when complete.

At present,vessels sometimes have to wait days for harsh weather and rough tides to subside in the Stadhavet Sea.

Construction on the project is expected to begin in 2022 and be complete by 2025 or 2026.
