National Thermal Power Corporation Limited to set up India’s first green hydrogen mobility project in Ladakh

NTPC REL, a 100 percent subsidiary of NTPC, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Ladakh to set up the country’s first green hydrogen mobility project in the region.

It added that the signing of the MoU also marked the inauguration of NTPC’s first solar installations in Leh in the form of solar trees and a solar carport.

Bhutan becomes first country to adopt UPI standards for its QR deployment

BHIM UPI has forayed in Bhutan in collaboration with the Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan.

NPCI’s international arm, NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL) and Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan (RMA) collaboration will help enable UPI acceptance powered by BHIM App in Bhutan.

The service will be launched by India’s Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath unveils new population policy, aims to bring population growth to 2.1%

The Uttar Pradesh government released the new population policy for 2021-2030 on the occasion of World Population Day.

In the new population policy, a target has been set to bring the birth rate to 2.1 per thousand population by 2026 and to 1.9 by 2030.

The state's total fertility rate is 2.7 percent currently.

Deepak Kabra to become the first Indian to judge Gymnastics at the Olympics

A gymnastics judge from India, Deepak Kabra, will be seen judging the artistic gymnastics events at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. This is the first time that an Indian will be seen officiating in the sport of Gymnastics at the Olympics.

The Mumbai based Deepak Kabra was appointed as a member of the Asian Gymnastics Union's technical committee in the year 2019.

Industry body IAMAI said Google India Vice President and Managing Director Sanjay Gupta has been elected as its chairman for the period 2021-23.

Nepal signs $1.3 billion mega deal with India's SJVN to develop 679 MW Lower Arun Hydropower project

Nepal has signed a $1.3 billion deal with India’s hydropower major Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) to develop a 679-megawatt hydropower project in eastern Nepal, the second mega venture undertaken by India in the neighbouring Himalayan nation.

The project will be developed under the build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) model.
