Alok Sahay appointed as Secretary-General and Executive Head of Indian Steel Association

Indian Steel Association (ISA) announced that former executive director of state-owned SAIL, Alok Sahay has assumed office as its new Secretary-General and Executive Head from 1st October 2021, taking over from Bhaskar Chatterjee.

Sahay has represented India at the Global Forum on Steel Excess Capacity (GFSEC) held in Paris in 2018.

Competition Commission chief Ashok Kumar Gupta has been given additional charge as the chairperson of the National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA).

NFRA Chairperson R Sridharan is demitting office after being at the helm for three years.

The decision has been taken with the approval of Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

Suryoday Small Finance Bank shuts down its ATMs from Oct 1

Suryoday Small Finance Bank informed its customers that it will shut down its automated teller machines (ATMs).

The bank said it will give users the option to use their debit card at ATMs of other banks. The lender will shut down its ATMs from October 1.

Due to operational reasons, Suryoday Bank ATMs will be discontinued with effect from 1st Oct 2021.

India has the highest fintech adoption rate of 87%, says FM Sitharaman

Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that India has the highest Fintech adoption rate of 87% as opposed to the global average rate of 64 percent, which shows that India is a prime destination for digital payments and activities.

The finance minister added that digital payment transactions have grown tremendously, from Rs two trillion in 2019 to Rs four trillion in 2020

Private sector AU Small Finance Bank signed a pact with the National Bank for Rural and Development (NABARD) to boost ongoing rural development initiatives in Rajasthan.

The memorandum envisages a joint initiative to benefit farmers, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), Self Help Groups (SHGs), rural artisans, agri-entrepreneurs, and agri-startups in the State.

GST collection for September crosses ₹1.17 lakh crore

The gross GST revenue collected in the month of September was 1,17,010 crore rupees, which included CGST component of 20,578 crore, SGST 26,767 crore and IGST component of 60,911 crore rupees.

The revenue for September was 23% higher than the GST revenues in the same month last year. During the month, revenue from import of goods was 30% higher.

Cabinet clears doubling of Nimach-Ratlam railway line worth Rs 1,095.88 crore

Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the doubling of the Nimach-Ratlam railway line at a total estimated cost of Rs 1,095.88 crore.

The total length of doubling of the Nimach-Ratlam railway line is 132.92 km. The project will be completed in four years.

The total estimated cost of the doubling Rajkot-Kanalus railway project will be Rs 1,080.58 crore

Delhi govt forms 16-member committee to monitor functioning of Connaught Place smog tower

The Delhi govt has instituted a 16-member committee to check the functioning of the newly installed smog tower at Connnaught Place.

The committee will submit three reports- one report each month- about the functioning of the smog tower.

It will also comprise of 5-member team from the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) to be headed by scientist Mohan George.
