Akshay Karnewar scripts historic T20 world record, bowls 4 maidens in 4 overs

Vidarbha bowler Akshay Karnewar broke the world record for the most economical figures ever bowled in T20 cricket as he did not concede a single run in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match against Manipur.

Karnewar, 29, producing figures of 4-4-0-2, broke Pakistan pacer Mohammad Irfan's record to become the first player to bowl four overs, four maidens in men's T20 cricket.

Vice Admiral Hari Kumar to take charge as India’s next navy chief

The Central government announced that Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar will take over as India’s next navy chief on November 30, replacing Admiral Karambir Singh who retires on that day.Kumar is currently heading the Mumbai-based Western Naval Command.

The 59-year-old officer was commissioned into the navy in January 1983.

Sheel Vardhan Singh appointed Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) chief, Atul Karwal to head NDRF

Senior IPS officers Sheel Vardhan Singh & Atul Karwal were appointed as chiefs of Central Industrial Security Force and National Disaster Response Force respectively.

Singh, a 1986 batch Indian Police Service officer of Bihar cadre, is currently Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau. Singh has been appointed as the Director General, CISF up to 31.08.2023.

The Reserve Bank of India has announced the launch of its first global hackathon 'HARBINGER 2021 – Innovation for Transformation' with the theme ‘Smarter Digital Payments’.

The hackathon will invite participants to identify and develop solutions that have the potential to make digital payments accessible to the under-served, enhance the ease of payments and user experience.

Indian Bank launches video KYC facility enabled by VCIP technology

Indian Bank has launched the Video KYC (know your customer) facility, which allows an applicant to open an account from anywhere by incorporating its Video-Based Customer Identification Process (VCIP) technology, on its web-based platforms.

The initiative would dispense with the need for a personal visit to any branch of the bank to complete the physical verification.

Srinagar joins UNESCO network of creative cities

Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, is among the 49 cities selected worldwide to join the UNESCO creative cities network (UCCN) with Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailing the inclusion as a "fitting recognition" for the vibrant cultural ethos of the old city.

World Bank approves Rs 770 cr for Assam's Inland Water Transportation

The Inland Water Transport (IWT) department has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the World Bank for a Rs 770 cr loan to develop river transportation in Assam.

Assam & World Bank are exploring possibilities to work together on infrastructure schemes and the latest technologies.

The central government would refund 80% of the approved amount.

Japan launches small Epsilon 5 rocket with nine satellites
