Praveen Kumar, appointed as Director General & CEO of Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs

Govt of India has approved the appointment of Shri Praveen Kumar, IAS, Former Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship to the post of Director General & Chief Executive Officer,Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA).

The proposal for setting up IICA was approved by Planning Commission in the year 2007. It was established in 2008 at Manesar, Haryana.

Radhika Jha appointed CEO of Energy Efficiency Services

Radhika Jha, has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer in state-run Energy Efficiency Services (EESL). EESL is a joint venture between NTPC, Power Grid, Power Finance Corp and REC, working to promote energy efficiency in the country.

Prior to that, she was the Secretary to the CM of Uttarakhand from 2017 to 2021.

NITI Aayog Releases Fourth Edition Of State Health Index

NITI Aayog released the fourth edition of the State Health Index for 2019–20. The report, titled "The Healthy States, Progressive India", ranks states and Union Territories on their year-on-year incremental performance in health outcomes as well as their overall status.

The index is being compiled and published since 2017.

India to become world's 6th largest economy by 2023

Indian economy is all set to become sixth largest economy in the world leaving French and British economy behind, says British Consultancy Cybr report.

The report says that in the year 2022, Indian economy will exceed French economy whereas it will trump British economy in 2023 and the world’s economic output will exceed $100 trillion for the first time in 2022.

Rajnath Singh lays foundation of BrahMos unit, defence technology centre in Lucknow, U.P

Defence minister Rajnath Singh has laid the foundation stone of the Defence Technology and Test Centre and BrahMos manufacturing centre that will be established by Defence Research and Development Organisation in Lucknow.

The Uttar Pradesh government has allocated 200-acre land for the project in Lucknow. This facility will be made operational in the next two-three years.

Former Greek President Karolos Papoulias dies at 92

Veteran Greek politician Karolos Papoulias, who served as president at the height of the economic crisis of the 2010s, died at the age of 92.

Papoulias, a longtime socialist lawmaker and minister, was close to Andreas Papandreou, the founder of the Socialist PASOK party.

He served two terms between 2005 and 2015.

Uttar Pradesh Hockey maintained their unbeaten record in the 11th Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2021 in Kovilpatti in Tamil Nadu with a decisive 3 - 1 victory over Hockey Chandigarh in the final of the competition.

Tournament top scorer Sharda Nand Tiwari opened the scoring for Uttar Pradesh.

HDFC Bank ties up with IPPB to serve semi-urban, rural areas

HDFC Bank has tied up with India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) to offer its banking services to the unbanked and underserved segments in semi-urban and rural areas.

A MoU was signed between HDFC Bank & IPPB to cater to the majority of over 4.7 crore customer base of IPPB.

About 90% of IPPB customers reside in rural areas, which may benefit from this tie-up.

Centre forms committee to look into withdrawal of AFSPA in Nagaland

The Centre has formed a committee to look into the withdrawal of Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) in Nagaland.

The move comes after representatives of the Nagaland government held a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Registrar General & Census Commissioner of India Vivek Joshi will head the five-member committee.The panel will submit its report in 45 days.

China launches new camera satellite with 5m resolution to find resources

The satellite, called "Ziyuan-1 02E" or "five-meter optical satellite 02," was launched by a Long March-4C rocket from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre in north China's Shanxi province.

It weighs about 2.5 kilograms and is equipped with infrared, near-infrared and hyperspectral cameras. The cameras can take full-colour panchromatic images of the Earth.
