Sony buys 'Destiny' game developer Bungie for $3.6 billion

Sony Group Corp. is purchasing Bungie Inc., the U.S. video game developer behind the popular Destiny and Halo franchises, for $3.6 billion to bolster its stable of game-making studios.

Buying Bungie will give Sony one of the most popular first-person shooter games to compete with the massive Call of Duty series, which Sony’s main rival now owns through Activision.

Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North-East, PM-DevINE scheme announced in Budget 2022-23

A new scheme, Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North-East, PM-DevINE was announced by the Union Minister for Finance in the Union Budget 2022-23.

The scheme will be implemented through the North-Eastern Council. An initial allocation of Rs. 1,500 crore will be made. It will fund infrastructure, in the spirit of PM GatiShakti, and social development projects.

While presenting the budget 2022-23, the Union Minister for Finance proposed to introduce Digital Rupee, using blockchain and other technologies, to be issued by the Reserve Bank of India starting 2022-23. She elaborated that introduction of Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) would give a big boost to digital economy.

GAIL starts India’s maiden project of blending hydrogen into CGD network

Gas Authority of India Limited has commenced India’s first-of-its-kind project of mixing hydrogen into natural gas system at Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The hydrogen blended natural gas will be supplied to Avantika Gas Limited, one of GAIL’s Joint Venture (JV) Company with HPCL, operating in Indore.

NIMHANS to spearhead national tele-counselling

The National Instituteof Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) will spearhead a National Tele-Mental Health Programme across the country, as per the Union Budget 2022-23. The programme will include a network of 23 tele-mental health centres of excellence, with NIMHANS being the nodal centre and IIITB providing technology support.

United Nations recognised 'World Wetlands Day' is celebrated on February 2 to mark the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands in the Iranian city of Ramsar on the same day in 1971.

Wetlands, often known as ‘liquid assets’ are the most crucial natural resources that help stabilise water supplies, cleanse polluted waters, protect shorelines, and recharge groundwater aquifers.
