INS Vikrant Successfully Completes 4th Phase Of Sea Trials

The 4th phase of Sea Trials for IAC has been successfully completed on 10 Jul 22, during which integrated trials of the majority of equipment and systems onboard including some of the Aviation Facilities Complex. Maiden Sea Trials of IAC were successfully completed on Aug 21. This was followed by the second and third phases of Sea Trials on Oct 21 and Jan 22 respectively.

PM National Apprenticeship Mela Conducted On July 11

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship conducted the Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Mela on July 11, 2022, as part of the Prime Minister’s Skill India Mission to boost career opportunities and practical training.

The one-day event featured 36 sectors and more than 1000 companies and 500 distinct sorts of trades.

PM Modi to Inaugurate newly-built Deoghar airport in Jharkhand

Deoghar Airport will be the 68th destination which will be connected to Kolkata, Patna and Ranchi under UDAN. The first UDAN flight connecting Kolkata and Deoghar will be inaugurated on July 12, 2022.

The Deoghar airport is spread over 657 acres has a 2,500-metre-long runway, which can handle the landing and takeoff of Airbus A320 planes.

IIT Kanpur to set up network of air quality sensors to measure pollution in rural India

IIT Kanpur announced that it will be launching a USD 2.5 million project to install nearly 1,400 sensors in rural blocks of Uttar Pradesh & Bihar.

It is looking forward to launching this project to bolster the measurement of air pollution in rural India.

The 3-year pilot project is expected to pave the way for a national network of air quality sensors in rural India.

Brijendra Kumar Syngal, former chairman of Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited,referred to as father of internet in India, passed away.

An IITian, Syngal left satellite communications company Inmarsat to take charge of VSNL in 1991.

Under his watch, the company rolled out India's internet service and launched its then biggest global depository receipt issue.

Uttar Pradesh becomes only state to have 13 expressways

Uttar Pradesh has become the first state in the country to have 13 expressways. Of these 13 expressways having a total length of 3,200 kilometers, work is going on, on seven while six expressways are operational.

Jharkhand tops in Rurban Mission’s delta ranking

Jharkhand has topped in the delta ranking of Syama Prasad Mookerjee Rurban Mission with composite score of 76.19 in the month of June.

With this, the state has improved its position to 8th place in overall ranking of the mission.

In the delta ranking, the state has improved its score by 1.93 compared to May, which is the highest improvement among the 34 states/UTs.

José Eduardo dos Santos, Longtime Angolan Ruler, Dies at 79

Angola's former long-term ruler, President Jose Eduardo dos Santos, died in a hospital in the Spanish city of Barcelona, where he had been living in self-imposed exile. He was 79.

He ruled his country for 38 years, from Agostinho Neto’s death in 1979 — four years after Angola won independence from Portugal — until 2017, when he stepped down voluntarily as president.

ICAR-NBFGR scientists discover two new species of marine fishes along Tamil Nadu coast

Scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research's National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources (ICAR-NBFGR) have found two new species of marine fishes in Tamil Nadu.

One is a type of eel, from the Colachel fish landing centre in Kanyakumari district, and the other is a sardine fish from Pattinapakkam fish landing centre in Chennai.
