Govt appoints Ratan Tata, 2 others as trustees of PM CARES Fund

Veteran industrialist Ratan Tata, former Supreme Court judge KT Thomas, and former deputy Lok Sabha speaker Kariya Munda have been nominated as trustees of the PM CARES Fund.

Prime Minister is the ex-officio Chairman of the PM CARES Fund and the Minister of Defence, Minister of Home Affairs and Minister of Finance, Government of India are ex-officio Trustees of the Fund.

This was unanimously decided by the AIBD member countries at the two-day General Conference held in New Delhi. World Rhino Day 2022 | September 22

World Rhino Day was announced by World Wildlife Fund (WWF) - South Africa in 2010. The day got international recognition in 2011.

World Rhino Day is observed on September 22 every year to create awareness and educate people about all the five species of rhinoceroses.

Javan and greater one horned rhino have one horn, whereas the white, black and sumatran rhinos have two.

30 kN Hybrid Motor Successfully Tested by ISRO at IPRC

VSSC/ISRO successfully tested a hybrid motor at ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPRC), Mahendragiri, supported by Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC/ISRO). The motor used Hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) as fuel and liquid oxygen (LOX) as the oxidizer. Unlike solid-solid or liquid-liquid combinations, a hybrid motor uses solid fuel and liquid oxidizer.

India to host maiden MotoGP race in 2023; to be labelled as 'Grand Prix of Bharat'

MotoGP commercial rights owner Dorna and Noida-based race promoters Fairstreet Sports signed a MoU to host the premier two-wheel racing event in India for the next seven years.

The Buddh International Circuit, which will be hosting the MotoGP race, was once home to the Formula 1 Indian Grand Prix, held for three consecutive years from 2011 till 2013.

ADB Trims India Growth Estimate By 50 Basis Points To 7% For FY23

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) reduced its forecast for India's gross domestic product growth for the fiscal year 2022–2023 (FY23) to 7% from 7.2%, citing weak global demand and tightening monetary policy to combat inflationary pressures brought on by high prices for oil and other commodities.

India defends its decision to ban rice, wheat exports at WTO

In May 2022, India restricted export of wheat to enhance domestic availability. This month, it also banned export of broken rice and imposed a 20 per cent export duty on non-Basmati rice except for parboiled rice to boost domestic supplies amid a fall in area under paddy crop in the current kharif season.

Cabinet approves modifications in "Programme for Development of Semiconductors and Display Manufacturing Ecosystem in India"

Fiscal support of 50% of capital expenditure on a pari-passu basis will be available under the Scheme for Setting up of Compound Semiconductors / Silicon Photonics / Sensors Fab and Semiconductor ATMP /OSAT facilities in India. Additionally, target technologies under the scheme will include Discrete Semiconductor Fabs.

Vitamin Angels India partners with UNICEF India for Poshan Maah 2022
