Tata Sons announces merger of Air India and Vistara; Singapore Airlines to own 25.1% in merged entity

The Singaporean carrier would emerge as a 25.1% owner of Air India, as part of a deal that would merge its Vistara joint venture with Tata Sons, into Air India.

As part of the transaction, Singapore Airlines (SIA) will invest $252 mn. into Air India, Singapore Airlines said, with the pair aiming to complete the merger by March 2024.

RBI to launch first pilot for retail digital rupee from December 1; SBI, ICICI Bank & 6 other banks identified for participation

"The pilot would cover select locations in closed user group (CUG) comprising participating customers and merchants. The e₹-R would be in the form of a digital token that represents legal tender. It would be issued in the same denominations that paper currency and coins are currently issued. It would be distributed through intermediaries, i.e., banks".

Adani Properties wins Dharavi redevelopment project rights with Rs 5,069cr bid

Adani Properties, real estate development company owned by Gautam Adani-led Adani Group, has bagged the rights to redevelop Asia's biggest slum, Dharavi, spread over 600 acres of prime land in the heart of the country's commercial capital, Mumbai.

Adani Properties’ bid of Rs 5,069 crore emerged as the highest, while DLF bid amount was Rs 2,025 crore.

Former Health Secretary Preeti Sudan appointed as a UPSC member

Former Health Secretary Preeti Sudan has been appointed as a member of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

The UPSC is headed by a chairperson and can have a maximum of 10 members. With her appointment, there is still a vacancy of four members in the Commission.

The oath was administered to her by the UPSC chairman Dr Manoj Soni.

New credit card payment rule: RBI wants card issuers to revisit minimum amount due formula

RBI wants banks and card issuers to calculate the minimum amount due on credit card bills in a way that does not result in negative amortization.

"The unpaid charges or levies, or taxes shall not be capitalized for charging or compounding of interest," the central bank earlier said in a master direction – Credit card and Debit card – Issuance and Conduct Directions, 2022.

Inclusion of Goods and Service Tax Network (GSTN) as a Financial Information Provider under Account Aggregator Framework

With a view to facilitate cash flow-based lending to MSMEs, it has been decided to include GSTN as a Financial Information Provider (FIP) under the Account Aggregator (AA) framework. Department of Revenue shall be the regulator of GSTN for this specific purpose and Goods and Services Tax (GST) Returns, viz. Form GSTR-1 and Form GSTR-3B, shall be the Financial Information.

India to receive first LNG cargo from Indonesia’s Tangguh LNG

India has received its first cargo from Indonesia’s Tangguh liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant at the Dahej terminal 28 Nov.

The LNG cargo is being transported by the BW Helios tanker.

The BW Helios picked up the cargo of 132,000 cubic metres at the Tangguh LNG loading facility on Sept. 18.

Kirit Parikh Panel recommends $4-6.50/unit gas price band for old fields

The government-appointed gas price review panel headed by Kirit Parikh has summited its recommendations to the Oil Ministry. The panel's suggestion on gas prices includes removing caps on gas prices in three years. Also, it has recommended a price band of $4-6.50/unit for gas from old fields.

EasyJet, Rolls-Royce Test "World's 1st Hydrogen-Run" Aircraft Engine

Airline EasyJet and aircraft engine maker Rolls-Royce had successfully tested a hydrogen-powered aircraft engine, in what the British companies described as a world first for aviation.

Green hydrogen is widely seen as better for the environment than jet fuel.

Green hydrogen for the tests had been generated using tidal and wind energy from Scotland's Orkney Islands.

NDTV founders Prannoy Roy, Radhika Roy resign from RRPRH board; transfer shares to Adani holding company

News broadcaster New Delhi Television Ltd’s (NDTV’s) promoter firm RRPR Holding had transferred shares constituting 99.5 per cent of its equity capital to Adani group-owned Vishvapradhan Commercial (VCPL).

The transfer of shares will give the Adani group control over a 29.18 per cent stake in NDTV.
