Broadband definition of minimum download speed raised to 2 Mbps

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has raised by around four times the minimum download speed under broadband services to 2 Mbps (mega bits per second).

The revision in the definition comes after nine years. In 2013, the central government had defined broadband services to have a minimum download speed of 512 Kbps.

India sees six-fold jump in voters since 1951; total electorate on January 1 is over 94.50 crore

India has witnessed a nearly six-fold increase in the total number of voters since 1951 to over 94.50 crore this year, but almost one-third of them stayed away from exercising their franchise in the last Lok Sabha polls.

In 1951, when the voter lists for the first general elections were prepared, India had 17.32 crore registered electors.

EC’s song 'Main Bharat Hoon' to nudge voters for upcoming polls

As one of the initiatives, the Election Commission, in collaboration with Subhash Ghai Foundation, produced a song – 'Main Bharat Hoon, Hum Bharat ke Matdata Hain', featuring celebrities from different walks of life, appealing to the people to cast their vote.

The song was screened in the presence of President Droupadi Murmu on the 13th National Voters Day.

DSP Investment Managers receives RBI approval to invest in DCB Bank through schemes of DSP MF

DCB Bank has received an intimation from RBI on 03 February 2023, that it has granted its approval to DSP Investment Managers (DSPIM) to acquire up to 9.99% of the paid-up equity capital of the Bank through the schemes of DSP Mutual Fund. Google invests $300mn in artificial intelligence start-up Anthropic

Google Cloud reportedly invested $300 million into artificial intelligence (AI) startup firm Anthropic. Anthropic is working on Claude, an AI assistant tool that could compete with OpenAI's ChatGPT.
