Prime Minister Modi Inaugurates Aero India 2023 In Bengaluru

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 14th edition of Aero India 2023 at Air Force Station, Yelahanka in Bengaluru.

The theme of Aero India 2023 is "The Runway to a Billion Opportunities".

Aero India 2023 exhibition will witness participation of more than 800 defence companies including around 100 foreign and 700 Indian companies.

Namami Gange Mission-II approved with budgetary outlay of ₹22,500 cr till 2026

The government has approved Namami Gange Mission-II with a budgetary outlay of Rs.22,500 crore till 2026, including projects for existing liabilities of Rs.11,225 crore and new projects/interventions of ₹11,275 crore, minister of state for Jal Shakti, Bishweswar Tudu said.

A total of 409 projects are taken up at an estimated cost of ₹32,912.40 crore till 31 December, 2022.

Indian Army Gets 'World's First' Fully Operational SWARM Drone System; Capable Of Hitting Targets 50 Km Away

NewSpace Research, a Bengaluru-based start-up has delivered SWARM drones to Indian Army, which makes the Army the first major armed force in the world to operationalise these high-density SWARM drones.

SWARM Drones are a group of autonomous UAVs which engage with each other using radio signals, to plan and complete various mission objectives using advanced AI algorithms.

HDFC Bank begins offline payment pilot under RBI sandbox

HDFC Bank is attempting to execute digital payments in an offline mode under a regulatory facility to test innovations. Apart from executing transactions in no network areas, such a facility will be of help in urban pockets experiencing bad networks and also in aircraft.

Digital payment typically requires one either the customer or the merchant to be online to get executed.

DGCA Imposes Rs 20 Lakh Penalty On AirAsia India

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), imposed a penalty of Rs 20 lakh on Tata Group-owned budget carrier AirAsia India for violation of certain norms relating to pilots' training.

DGCA also ordered to remove the airline's head of training from his position for a period of three months besides imposing a fine of Rs 3 lakh each on eight Designated Examiners.

Gross Direct Tax Mop-Up Grows 24% To Rs 15.67 Lakh Crore So Far In FY23

Gross direct tax collections grew 24% to Rs 15.67 lakh crore so far this fiscal, the finance ministry said.

After adjusting for refunds, the net direct tax collection stood at Rs 12.98 lakh crore, a growth of 18.40%.

The net collections are about 79% of revised estimates of direct tax collection for current fiscal, the CBDT said.

NRI deposits grow 38% to $3.6 billion during April-November 2022 period

Net inflows under non-resident deposits increased to $3.6 billion during April-November 2022 from $2.6 billion a year ago, boosted by the Reserve Bank’s July 6th measures, according to RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das.

The rise in deposits has been attributed to exemptions announced by RBI.

RBI cancels registration of two entities for regulatory lapses

The Reserve Bank of India has cancelled the registration of two non-banking finance companies (NBFCs) - Pune-based Kudos Finance and Investments and Mumbai-based Credit Gate - for regulatory lapses in lending practices.

With cancels Certificate of Registration (CoR), the two NBFC should not transact the business of a Non-Banking Financial Institution (NBFI).

Kotak acquires Sonata Finance in ₹537-crore all-cash deal

Kotak Mahindra Bank has acquired micro-finance company Sonata Finance for ₹537 crore in an all-cash deal. Sonata Finance will be a wholly owned subsidiary of the bank after receiving regulatory and other approvals.

The transaction provides the bank with the opportunity to scale up its operations in the rural and semi-urban markets in the northern states of India.

CCI gives nod to KKR purchasing stake in Hero Future Energies Global

Competition Commission of India (CCI) approved the purchase of stake in Hero Future Energies Global Ltd by Ardor Holdings II Pte.

Ardor Holdings II Pte Ltd is a special purpose vehicle of global investment firm KKR & Co Inc.

CCI also cleared the acquisition of 20% equity share capital of Keimed Pvt Ltd (Keimed) by Shobana Kamineni through Prime Time Logistics Technologies.

Retail inflation rises to 3-month high of 6.52% in January

India’s retail inflation shot back up to 6.52% in January after a two-month streak below the 6% mark, with consumer food prices hardening again to 5.94% from 4.2% in December 2022 amid a broad-based pick-up in price trends across goods and services.

Rural inflation, which has outstripped urban inflation in recent months, firmed up from 6.05% in December to 6.85% in January.
