Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the eighth edition of the Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is the Chief Guest of the three-day Dialogue. Raisina Dialogue is India’s flagship conference on geopolitics and geo-strategy. The theme of the 2023 Edition is “Provocation, Uncertainty, Turbulence: Lighthouse in the Tempest.”
Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry has received the Porter Prize 2023. It recognized the government's strategy in managing COVID-19, also the approach, and involvement of various stakeholders especially involvement of ASHA workers in the industry to create PPE Kits. The prize was announced during The India Dialog at Stanford University.
Porter Prize is named after award-winning economist Michael E. Porter.
According to the annual World Bank report, which covers 190 countries, the UAE scored 82.5 out of 100 possible points across 35 sub indicators divided into eight major areas of the report: Mobility, Workplace, Pay, Marriage, Parenthood, Entrepreneurship, Assets, and Pension. UAE has been enacting legislation and regulations that support women’s rights and workplace roles.

Vietnam's newly-elected President Vo Van Thuong was sworn in the National Assembly Building in Hanoi. Thuong, 52, a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), was formally approved by the National Assembly to take over the presidency. He will serve until the present term ends in 2026.
The government of Ras Al Khaimah (RAK), one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates, has announced plans to establish RAK Digital Assets Oasis, the world's first free zone dedicated to digital and virtual asset companies. The announcement was made at the Blockchain Life 2023 conference.
Indian Grandmaster D Gukesh has been honoured with Player-of-the-Year award by the Asian Chess Federation (ACF) for clinching the gold medal with a record-breaking score of 9/11 in the 44th Chess Olympiad at Mahabalipuram last year.
In March last year, Gukesh became only the sixth Indian to break the 2700 Elo-rating mark.

Sayantan Das became India's 81st GM after beating the opposition at the International Festival des Jeux in Cannes, France. Das entered the A Group of the tournament as an IM, chasing the 24 FIDE Elo points that would bring him to the 2500 mark and grant him the title of India's newest grandmaster.

March 3 is known as World Wildlife Day (WWD), marked annually to draw attention to issues of conservation of flora and fauna. The WWD site states, “This year, the theme is ‘Partnerships for Wildlife Conservation’. In 2013, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) proclaimed March 3 as the UN World Wildlife Day the day of signature of CITES in 1973.
Every year, March 3 is marked as the global event to raise awareness of hearing loss, promote ear and hearing care, and urge action to solve hearing loss and associated concerns. The day was commemorated for the first time in 2007. Earlier, the day was originally known as International Ear Care Day. Later, the World Health Organisation declared World Hearing Day in 2016.

Jishnu Barua has become the new chairperson of power regulator Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC). Barua was chief secretary of Assam from October 2020 to August 2022. Prior to this, he had been additional chief secretary to Assam looking after various departments of the state from August 2017 to October 2020.

Hekani Jakhalu became the first woman to ever be elected as an MLA in Nagaland. Contesting as a candidate for the NDPP, Jakhalu was declared the winner from the Dimapur III constituency. Jakhalu, 48, is a lawyer and activist. Another NDPP woman candidate, Salhoutuonuo Kruse, defeated her Independent rival by just seven votes in Western Angami constituency.
The Securities & Exchange Board of India allowed the National Stock Exchange, the largest stock exchange in India, authorization to introduce futures contracts for NYMEX WTI Crude Oil and Natural Gas (Henry Hub) in its Commodity derivatives section. The approval would enable NSE to market rupee-denominated derivative contracts for Indian market players.
Dubai based Emirates airline emerges as the largest foreign airline for outbound and inbound international traffic to & from India, according to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation India. According to DGCA data for the final quarter of 2022, Emirates is also the third-largest carrier for international traffic when all domestic carriers in India are taken into account.
In a move aimed at reducing road congestion and to infuse industrial development in the Union Territory, a container feeder service between Chennai and Pondicherry Ports was launched. The service is part of the Union Government’s Sagarmala scheme. For this, the government decided to develop the Pondicherry Port as the satellite port of Chennai Port for container cargo.
