Ordnance Factory Day 2023 | March 18

Indian Ordnance Factories operated under the Ordnance Factory Board (OFB). The Government of India, decided in 2021 to transfer control of the 41 production units collectively known as Ordnance Factories to 7 Government-owned companies, under the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence (DDP). The transfer took place on October 1, 2021.

RBI imposes monetary penalty on HDFC, IGH Holdings for non-compliance

The RBI has imposed a monetary penalty of ₹5 lakh on Housing Development Finance Corporation Limited (HDFC) and ₹11.25 lakh on IGH Holdings Private Limited respectively.

RBI imposed penalty on HDFC for non-compliance with certain provisions of the Housing Finance Companies (NHB) Directions, 2010 issued by the National Housing Bank (NHB).

G Krishnakumar takes over as Bharat Petroleum Corporation's chairman

G Krishnakumar has taken over as the new chairman and managing director of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL). Krishnakumar replaces Arun Kumar Singh, who retired as chairman in October 2022. Post that, Gupta was holding additional charge of the chairman. Krishnakumar will hold the position of chairman and managing director till April 2025.

NCLT approves merger of HDFC with HDFC Bank

The The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has approved the merger of HDFC and HDFC Bank. The proposed merger is to create a large balance sheet and net worth that would allow a greater flow of credit into the economy. It will also enable the underwriting of larger ticket loans, including infrastructure loans, an urgent need of the country.

Canara Bank launches Rupay Credit Card through UPI
